Wouldn't surprise me. Plenty to be had on the used market right now.
Re: Canadian North - New 737NG?
From what I understand most of the airports that C-North uses are paved, so no need for gravel kits, beside they can make the most of the life left in the -200's by dedicating them for the strips they need gravel protection for.

More like a 737-300 first...an NG isn't out the question for them but it isn't in the foreseeable future.
Re: Canadian North - New 737NG?
The bigger issue for Canadian North, First Air and other northern operators for a 737-200 replacement is combi operations not gravel runway requirements. The -200 has been grandfathered to continue hauling main deck freight with a movable bulkhead separating the passengers. The CAR’s require any newer aircraft to have a fixed bulkhead and more stringent main deck fire suppression systems. Presently the 737 is configured depending on the ratio of cargo to passengers for a given destination by moving the bulkhead to add or remove seats. That would be impossible with a fixed bulkhead.

British Airways is getting rid of their 300/500 series 737s.
In an internal memo the comment was made by a senior manager, 'I understand the 737-500s are off to colder climates (much colder climates) so many thanks to all those that volunteered for ferry flights.'
Take what u want from that but I would bet on some of them ending up in the Arctic.
