I don't know the numbers (So this is one pure assumption), but what about a c-46? I watched one come in to ywp the other day, low and slow, and they made the stop in less than 3500 feet on gravel, downhill at that. Couldn't tell from where I was but I don't think they used it all either!

I don`t believe that, so how many knots will be near empty? 50?

Doing the rough math, 70 knots with the C-17 empty plus crew and 10,000lbs of fuel. Still seems pretty low.

I`m not familiar with C-17, but 70 knots, even 100, sound like science-fiction. I think this kind of bird doing 115-120 low weights, and much more with MTOW. Any input from military guys will be appreciated.
