CPAER Re-Write

Post by MOCA »

So I didn't fair to well on my CPL written exam. Just a quick question. I failed 3/4 sections, but passed air law with flying colors. When I go to re-write the exam, will i have to do all 4 sections again, or just the 3 I failed?

You need the overall pass mark, I believe 60% for the whole test in order to just rewrite a portion, Id suspect you're going to have a full rewrite, but if you aced air law, you should ace that part again.

You will have to re-write the whole thing unless you got an average of 60%, and only failed one section.

Wasn't sure if they had changed any rules there, sometimes they like to get creative and change things because it makes them look proactive. Been a long time since I taught ground school.

:( Sad, this info should be covered, with you, by your Instructor before you even write!

As other said, IF you got an overall mark of 60%, then you'll have to write the 3 sections you failed. Otherwise it's a complete rewrite.

It's not my job to critique you, but study. I know it's a hard exam and failing one section or so is normal. Maybe you just had a bad day, but I'd suggest studying hard and not putting a deadline for yourself. That's when you start "crammin" and aren't getting main point of the exam. I know it takes a little bit of psychology to write the exams, but the questions focus a lot on your knowledge of the theory. If you fail again, I would suggest taking some time off - go to mexico, get laid, come back, and give your self time. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for the material to settle in. After I got my CPL, a lot of the theory all of a sudden just MADE SENSE !

I strongly suggest studying for your written, then going on your 300nm trip, everything will be fresh and a lot of the theories you are expected to know, will now become a form of application for you to carry out in flight - when you come back it will make MUCH more sense and you should be in much better shape to write the exam.

Good Luck and I am looking forward to hearing you succeed this time :)
