B747 over YWG dumping fuel last night?

Post by stevewilson »

Apparently a B747 declared an emergency last night NW of Red Lake and was dumping fuel in that area so they could land in YWG...did anyone hear how it turned out?

Too bad they couldn't dump it at one of the reserves. It'd save the hawker guys a trip or two.

If it was a medcal emergency, any self respecting pilot would do his level best to assist but what would your boss say if you diverted a hundred unrecoverable miles because some passenger had a medical situation.
How many bosses would have a hissy fit?
How many would expect the pilot to contribute to the cause?
Would you be able to claim mileage for the diversion?
How many bosses are assholes?
Just curious

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Well could I politely say dump it n the reserve...... and then make one more low pass and throw a couple large Cuban Stogies out the DV window. I take that back.... don't waste the stogies.... shoot a couple emergency flares out the window. That should get the fire going.

But look at the other side of this, if no one was on the reserve just think of all the flying there would be to rebuild it.

Wouldn't that be a better use of the tax payers money than giving it to all those Liberal supporters that are friends of Jean and John?

Okay, apparently I am an idiot for writing something that could be so easily misunderstood by the uninformed. Let me explain in detail for SRV and the others that sent me angry PM's. The story reads that a 747 had to dump fuel north of Red Lake. Red Lake is located in Northern Ontario and north of Red Lake lies several remote reserves that have no road access or electricity lines running to them. These reserves use large diesel generators to produce electricity for the whole reserve. These fuel is flown in by aircraft containing large bulk fuel tanks. My admitidly poor joke was that wouldn't it be great if the fuel dumped by the 747 could have been used to power these generators instead of it having to be flown in. Of course a 747 could never land at one of these small strips. Thats what makes the situation so homorous. The proof of this is my comment "It'd save the hawker guys a trip or two." Those of us in Northern Ontario know that at least one company uses the Hawker 748 to deliver bulk fuel to these reserves. If the 747 dumped their fuel there it would save them some work. There you have it. Lets all put this tragedy behind us. Sorry you don't have anyone to crucify now but the only thing I'm guilty of is telling a really unfunny joke. Feel free to keep calling me a racist though. I haven't counted but I'm pretty sure I have more Native friends then white ones so it's kinda funny. I can't believe I just wasted so much time replying to this.

Rudy, no need to explain because most of the people who think your posts are racist don't understand who the real racist's are.

Reserves are a form of rasism, set up an supported by the real racists sitting by the thousands in Government offices, even South Africa is ahead of Canada on this issue.

The days of keeping the savages on reserves should have ended generations ago, but the billions of dollars to be skimmed out of the system will probably go on for a long time. The real rasists run the system.

Well, the purpose of my post wasn't really to start a political debate about reserves (that's a big can of worms) but I appreciate the support. I just wanted to clear my name (pseudo-name). I see now that SRV has deleted his comments and is probably feeling sheepish which is good enough for me. I certainly didn't expect an apology or anything since I didn't see how easily my comment could be read wrong. No harm done.
