know a dispatcher and a couple of pilots...they went to other companies, then the dispatcher and one pilot went back. They initially left PAL for bigger planes and for their spouses, then they both went back to PAL to return to Newfounland, and good news, they liked working there. Last i heard, they were still happy. Good luck.

939,

Worked with PAL for three years. Company is good to work for if you don't mind earning your paycheck. Management is as good as you will find with a company their size. Pay is good for the Metro and King Airs, sightly below average for the Saab and the Dash (not too many other companys to compare them to though). If you like YYT, or better yet are from there, you will love working there. Home every night, very little adhoc flying as the A/C are flat out on the sked runs.

I would have to say that they will continue to grow as well. LabAir is slowing down and PAL has the inside track on any and all of the Voiseys flying.

If you are trying to get a job there, an inside reference is almost always required.

Hmm ! Inside reference eh. I guess that probably explains why they could even bother to give me the time of day, after applying to them God knows how many times. I must have sent at least five or six letters, following my initial application. Not even a peep from them. But it doesn't really matter now, I'm with a company right here in Montreal and I'm happy.

Thanx for the info, tho I think I should add, I am not a pilot, but maintenance. But if the pilots and dispatchers liek it enough to go back, that doesz sound promising. I received a call from them Friday morning for an avionics apprentice position, and I think my inside reference was one of my instructors from college.

Gotta say PAL was a great company to work for. Was there for 5 years. That was on the flying side. Sometimes maintenance, especially in YYT, wasn't always, shall we say, eager to help out! Kind of an old boys club there. But it's one of the better airlines to work for in Newfoundland. Good luck!

To fit in with Provincial you must be willing to "Bend the Rules a Little". If you are not willing or complain, you employment there will be short. The two guys who packed it in, in Davis Inlet in 1999 in the DHC-6 just bent the rules a little too much. I know, I have worked there.

I worked for PAL at the YHZ base. Bunch of good hard-working people. As I've seen in the replies to this post, do your job, don't complain and you'll be fine. I know they are busy in YYT...not sure how busy they are in YHZ now...after losing the "Someday" courier contract to Spudair, but I believe they are still running King Airs for Fisheries. Pretty lucrative contract and those planes are stuffed full of technology.
