Stupid Canadian Politics
I cant believe that the 3 stooges are trying to do a quick power grab from Harper Funny what happens when the PM almost puts their parties into receivership! I could see Dion rolling his eyes at what that dork form the Bloc was saying!
God help us all!!
God help us all!!
Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
Well think of it this way:
There are 3 leftist parties and one relatively conservative party in contention. With the more leftist parties (Liberals, Green, and NDP) all competing with one another they actually do themselves more harm than good. Essentially their votes are divided amongst these three; leaving the parties with no chance in hell in ever having any contention in an election. If you look at the way the American government is divided amongst Democrats (more left wing) and Republicans (more right wing), voters only have 2 options to choose from. If this were the case in Canada, there would be more unity amongst the leftist parties, then we could see a real election.
Although one of the best things for Canadians is the ability to vote for numerous different parties, unity amongst the leftist parties essentially restricts the options in this country has.
Just a different way to look at it. I hope no one takes this as an attack on their political beliefs.

I hope an Election is called and the 3 stooges get schooled big time, what a sorry bunch of whiners.
Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
I have to agree. Here's the percentage of votes by Canadians in %:BoostedNihilist wrote:The conservatives are subservient to their opposition so why not have a coalition of two parties who have more vote combined than one party who doesn't have enough votes to own a clear mandate?
CON - 37.63%
LIB - 26.24%
BQ - 9.97%
NDP - 18.20 %
The CONs are there as a minority and are acting undemocratically, thinking that 37.63% of support from Canadians absolves them from consultation with the other parties in national decisions that affect all Canadians. It is truly undemocratic to ignore the voice of the majority of Canadians. This parliament could have worked if the CONs would have worked with the other parties, not against. Will this coalition work? I do not know and I am worried, as are many I am sure, but I would rather see parties coming together with one common goal than a single party ignoring all the others.
For those who voted CON, I can understand your frustration. For the other 62.37% of Canadians who did not vote CON, maybe now they will have their voices heard.

Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
Let me see if I got this straight. Only 38% of voters wanted this religious crackpot to be prime minister. Only 50 % of eligible voters actually voted. That means that only 19 percent of eligible voters voted for this Alberta dipshit to continue his George Bush imitation up here. Put in another light, 81 % of eligible voters did not vote for the Vichy Conservatives.
And you're calling people who mean to right this democratic abberation "stooges".

Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
Do you really think Canadians voices will be heard with a 3 partisan government??
The politicians are in it for their own political gain period. They keep claiming Canada needs a simulus package this very second. Funny thing is if they over throw the Conservitives next week it will take atleast 2 to 3 months before anything can get done!!!
DION is just a puppet in his party, he has no Balls and will be nothing more than paper weight until he is booted out in May.
SO 26.24% of Canadians voted for him and he now may become the PM of CANADA.
Harper may be a prick, but he gets stuff done. He's like the parent that didn't buy you candy when you were younger cause he knew it would rot your teeth in the future.
Get over it. Harper's been elected with a stronger minority, Canadians rejected Dion, and NO one in Canada voted for a coalition government with seperatists.
I'm a young guy, and it was my first time voting this past election, and it makes me sick to think that it didn't even mean a thing.

Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
The truth of how these people we elect think and act is very easy to examine.
Just watch them in question period.
Pathetic, now the country may really be in a spiral dive while these power hungry losers fight to see who gets to be top dog.
Sad really.
Watching Harper get removed as prime minister is a very good example of having mixed emotions, he got to arrogant and pushed his opponents to far.

Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
This is true. It's a strange situation and I'm wondering and worried about how things will play out. However, though Dion will be PM for now, it's supposed to be a coalition government where decisions will be made with the other parties, not Dion himself, as Dion, Layton and Duceppe stated in their press conference this afternoon. In that regard, Dion won't be calling all the shots as it is "supposed" to be more of a team effort; or so the hope is.Morav wrote:SO 26.24% of Canadians voted for him and he now may become the PM of CANADA.
Though it's new to Canada, coalition governments have been around in many other parliamentary governments and have been seen as most representative of the voting public, which might be a good thing... if the parties can make it work.

Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
Judy Wallman, a professional genealogical researcher, discovered that Stephen Dion the leader of Canada's Liberal Party great-great uncle, Robert Dion, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Quebec in 1889. The only known photograph of Dion shows him standing on the gallows. On the back of the picture is this inscription:
"Robert Dion; horse thief, sent to Quebec Provincial Prison 1883, escaped 1887, robbed the Canadian Pacific Railway six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted, and hanged in 1889."
Judy e-mailed Stephen Dion for comments. Dion's staff sent back the following biographical sketch:
"Robert Dion was a famous horseman in Quebec. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to service at a government facility, finally taking leave in 1887 to resume his dealings with the railroad. Subsequently, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Dion passed away during an important civic function held in his honour, when the platform on which he was standing collapsed."
That, my friends, is why it's called POLITICS!

Why is it that every goddamned whining amateur debater has to come up with some horseshit reason why somebody he disagrees with lacks "credibility"? Obvious hate for the west? What the hell does that mean? Why is that "obvious"?
My comments were that to allow Stephen Harper to govern this country when 81% of eligible voters did not cast a vote for him would be an abberation of democracy. You're goddamn right it would. These pricks talking about three stooges needed to be told exactly what they were told.
By the way numbnuts, if my comments are "incredible", they are by definition lacking "credibility". When you barge into something like this, don't make a complete ass of yourself in the first sentence.

Here's the percentage of votes by Canadians in %:
CON - 37.63%
LIB - 26.24%
BQ - 9.97%
NDP - 18.20 %
The problem with this coalition is that Liberal voters voted for Liberal / capitolist values, NDP voters voted for NDP / socialist values, and Bloc voters voted for a combination socialist / facist values.
In the long run this coalition will only disenfranchise more Canadian voters.
I guess we won't get kisses when they F@#k us this time!

Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
Using your math, that also means that even less voted for each of the other three - with no one living outside Quebec voting for Duceppe and most of the Liberals not wanting Dion to lead their own party let alone be Prime Minister. So, what is this threesomes' financial plan? They haven't given one yet so how can we decide if it's better than Harpers'?Ogee wrote:Let me see if I got this straight. Re: Stupid Canadian Politics
And what plan has Harper given? That's the very reason this coalition is supposedly forming.Roper wrote: They haven't given one yet so how can we decide if it's better than Harpers'?
It isn't about what percentage "each" of these parties got. It's about the fact that 81% of elibible voters did not vote for Stephen Harper who advances a political perspective that is in sharp contrast to all the others. The others do come with more popular support from the voters than does Harper.
I believe that the negative vote should become part of all ballots. You vote for someone you want, and you also get to vote for someone you don't want. The No's cancel out the Yes's. Sometimes that is more important to a voter than who you do want. I consider a vote against Stephen Harper to be more important to me than any vote for any other political party.
But maybe that's just because I so obviously hate the west.

Hey Ogee try this one!
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." Winston Churchill
$30 Billion to START!! That's your coalitions first infusion of "vote buying" I mean "stimulous" cash for the poor over worked Ontario auto industry, and remember, Quebec has a forestry industry too. Oh and don't forget the arts. Remember how your coalition moaned about how Harper was taking money away from the vibrant arts community that makes such a contribution to our economy? How much do you think Duceppe will want for the poor starving Quebec artists? Let the bidding start at $500 million....
Just admit that you're a sheep and you're being fleeced, and everybody will probably forgive your ignorance.

Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
Sorry Ogee, buy you are as dumb as a sack of hammers if you think this "coalition" is anything more than three losers making a desperate grab for power, with the Liberals in particular willing to sell their souls for the chance. The Liberals, since dumping Trudeauski, have been fiscal conservatives. The Conservatives picked up where the Liberals left off and that's why Canada is probably in the best financial shape of any western economy. Fiscally, the Liberals have nothing in common with the socialist fools of the NDP and Bloc. God help the country if either of those two groups get their hands on the economy.
