I agree that to call these three men stooges is wrong
One is a traitor
One is an ivory league nutty prof
And the other is a commie pinkpo crackpot with delusions of granduer (Paid for by your taxes ) so enjoy the show cause it will not last past christmas (which christmas i do not know )
Some of those hayseeds would gladly vote for duceppe ,they would love to see quebec fcuk off,So be careful what you wish for you may just see Duceppe as the leader of a country ,but not this one as it will not exist long if those partitioners get in

There are several Facebook groups in support of an election. Also, there is a site listing the date and locations for rallies:

I have no issue with another election. If something has to be done, let it be that. Then, those who wish to vote for the coalition can do so, and those that don't, don't have to. But, let it be known to the Canadian people, what EXACTLY the coalition stands for.

This is scary. It's not fair anymore to call Harper supporters "Hayseeds". I would have agreed with Ogee's assessment of the man prior to the last election. But the man is an economist, and that lent him some credibility to me in light of the Americans' having ruined the world's economy again. Now, look at this dog-and-pony show. No one wants this shit. And anything that's good for the Bloc Quebecois is bad for us, by definition. They should be hanged.

I suggest we elect my 17-year-old nephew, Jeffrey.

Jeffrey believes that old Metallica "rules" and "newer Metallica albums rule less, but are still better than country"

Jeffrey thinks "Vaginas and Boobs are cool."

Jeffrey says work "sucks, and we should have three-day weekends."

Jeffrey says "cops should chill out, but should have machine guns."

When asked whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry, Jeffrey says, "Whatever."

When asked about abortions, Jeffrey says, "WHat?"

Vote for Jeffrey. He's our last, best shot. Otherwise, I say we welcome our new american overlords, and personally I would like to assure them that all my previous anti-american sentiment was a result of the negative influence of my ex-wife.

Can you please tell me what one common goal is shared by the Liberals, NDP, AND Bloc, other than the goal of overthrowing a democratically elected government?
There's the winner right there.

Ogee - when you wade into an argument by insulting the people that posted before you just because they disagree with your viewpoint, your credibility goes out the window.

The plan is simple... if political parties get $1.95 per vote per election.... And considering how broke the opposition parties are... it makes sense to go back to the poles again and again!

Think of the job creation numbers for all those election related jobs!
Think of the ad revenues for the media as well!

Well, there's also the idea that we elect people to represent us locally. If all of them local representatives want to get together and cooperate to make Canada a better place, I don't see the problem.

The majority of people of voting age did not vote Conservative. There's that argument too.

Coalitions work in other countries.

In the end, it's all up to the Queen (or her representative here), because she's the head of state- even though you think you live in a democracy. She has veto power over every bill we want to pass.

Interesting times, for sure.

Just as useful as voting. See why the Liberals went to such lengths to disarm us?

So if I didn't vote, and I can't complain, does that also mean I can't be held responsible for this mess?

It is a good thing Canada is SO much more than its government. The citizens and soldiers of this country will ensure it survives and maintains some credibility on the world stage, no matter what happens in Ottawa.

On the news this morning, I heard that the stock market
in Toronto crashed yesterday, due at least in part to
political instability in Canada. One analyst said that with
the current instability, worthy of a banana republic, a wise
investor would sell all his assets in Canada (!!)

One must wonder if the squabbling children in Ottawa
are even aware of these sorts of events going on around
them. Or if they even care.

Personally, I think it would be great if Parliament locked
up tight, and did absolutely nothing for the next four
years. Parliamentary gridlock, in whatever form it takes,
is probably the best thing for Canada.

You actually want the sqaubbling children in Ottawa to
do something? Change something? I sure don't. Whatever
they might choose to do, it almost certainly the wrong
thing, certainly for the wrong reasons (ie political
compromise).

I just wish we could keep the squabbling children in
Ottawa out of the news. They reflect very poorly upon
the country, as the recent TSE results show!

The taxpayer would be far more ahead of each MP
was given a million dollars, and told to go home and
do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and TALK TO NO ONE.

What a wonderful four-year holiday that would be,
for the long-suffering Canadian taxpaying citizen.

Something people don't seem to be picking up on is yesterday Scott Brison (Lib) claimed that the Conservatives are lying and fudging the numbers and that the country is headed for a $50+ billion deficit. This coalition is suggesting spending $30 billion in it's stimulus package. So under the coalition seperatist government we are headed for a $70+ billion deficit.

This is terrible news for the Country. I also have never heard so many people speak about Western Separation. Maybe this stuff is common in Europe but it isn't common here. What the markets and economy need is stability. Not new ways of governing. When Harper says things like "it's a good time to buy stocks" he is trying to use his influence to instill confidence in the people. He isn't ignoring the problem. He is trying to manage it. Going off and pouring billions into the big 3 auto makers will not solve this. Stable economic regulation will help us weather the storm and the MArkets will recover on their own.

I think one of the most reckless things I have heard in a lomg time is Obama getting up and telling the people that this problem is only going to get worse. Seriously how does that help investor confidence?

73% of the people did not vote for the Liberals
90.03% did not vote for the Bloc
81.8% did not vote for the NDP

They have a common goal of wanting to work together, not dictate orders and push other parties around. I see Harper as the real problem in parliament. Did you notice during Monday's question period, when Jim Prentice spoke, the opposition was yelling "leader, leader, leader"?

I'd like to share with everyone the comments made by Rex Murphy on December 1st. I find him to be very insightful:

VIDEO: http://www.cbc.ca/national/blog/video/r ... nment.html
All Politics, No Government

Rex Murphy Point of View
December 1, 2008

Political scientists will stagger gibbering witless to their graves trying to figure
out why the Prime Minister decided to kick off a brand new session of a civil
parliament, in the middle of a world economic crisis, by the most lethal partisan
jab at the opposition in the history of Confederation.

It's either or. He's either dumb or arrogant. Those are the only options to explain
why he pitched a live grenade into the underwear of the opposition parties last
Thursday, within, as it were, five seconds of the new Session starting. Either
too dumb to know the furies he was releasing, or too arrogant to care.

Either way, now we have an entirely artificial partisan showdown in Ottawa, and
make no mistake, this is partisan warfare at its most intense, and nothing other,
because Mr. Harper saw a series of belts, and decided he just had to deliver a
vicious kick beneath all three of them.

We're in a crisis now, and it started with Mr. Harper, feeding his apparently
insatiable appetite continuously to do in the Opposition, and abusing last
Thursday's financial statement to kill the financing of his rivals.

That got their attention; and it's worth holding in mind, that without the effort to
lop off their funding - not some other higher-minded issue - we wouldn't be
where we are today. Don't accept the alibi that this crisis is about the financial
statement itself. It was triggered by the threat to political funding.

But that's just the beginning of the most absurd and embarrassing train of political
maneuvers to take place in a self-respecting country that I can recall.

For on the other side we have the almost unimaginable farce of a so-called
Coalition, complete with its own signing ceremony, being concocted under the
weirdest set of conditions in modern politics.

The latest bulletin has Stephane Dion installed as Prime Minister, a man who, after
the 77 seats Mr. Dion brought home in the election, the Liberals couldn't wait to
boot out of the leadership. They were speculating on it election night. Now, he is
good enough to be Prime Minister.

Let's get a look at this. A party looking for a leader itself, wants to install the
leader they're ejecting, as the country's leader.

But this farce is very much an improvisation in progress. There's been a round of
consulting with Jean Chretien and other impresarios of our national destiny. Every
crisis gets the think tank it deserves.

So we're to have a Coalition - not a political party be it noted - as our federal
government. Enabled - key word - by - shield your children - the only dedicated
separatist party in the House of Commons. Canada's federal government will owe
its existence to the one party that doesn't want Canada to exist. When that
happens, we've entered the terminal stages of national decline.

A federal government enabled by a separatist party is a contradiction in terms, in
logic, and in national honour.

What this manufactured crisis demonstrates is that Canadian politics is not
Canadian politics. It's partisan politics. Remember about 8 days ago, this was
going to be the civil House of Commons. Yeah; and roses are blooming even as I
speak in on the green lawns of Bonavista.

To call all this undignified is to give it too much dignity. What's going on in
Ottawa today is pure madness, a scramble for advantage on all sides.

All politics. No government.

For The National, I'm Rex Murphy.

You guys crack me up - if it wasn't so absurd, this would be something that even Gilbert and Sullivan couldn't dream up in the throes of a cocaine high.

I was to be given a parrot that needed a home and I was going to call him Rex Murphy but now I'm going to just name him after Rex Murphy and call him 'God.'

In response to Hedley et al, whom I am going to embarrass by saying I agree with him 100%, its ironic to think that the "new Libs on the Bloc" are going to get their economic crisis just by merely being borne. What a sick self-fulfilling prophesy. And to make the whole thing totally incomprehensible to me, making me feel like a real outcast in my own country, lots of people actually agree with this catastrophe just because Harper did something stupid but inconsequential! Chretien did all kinds of things that were stupid, but they were huge, like canceling helicopters and lying about the GST or Gosh! I almost forgot, committing fraud in Chicoutimi and letting his cohorts steal us blind with the sponsorship scandal. If you think that was 'interesting,' wait until they start borrowing to stave off the "economic crisis" and wait to see their how many of their cohorts get their snouts in that trough.

Its painfully obvious that ethics, morality and dignity are totally unknown in our governors and apparently in the country, too.

Congratulations, Canada, we are the leaders of the Third World - Robert Mugabe would be welcome here and might even teach the coalition some subleties.

All I have to say to Duceppe, Dion and Layton and their money-grubbing traitorous cronies is, FZCK YOU. Another PM from Quebec - give me strength.

Do the Conservatives not hold 55% of the federalist seats?

Honestly, these arguments that "the majority of Canadians voted against the Conservatives" are pretty nebulous. In PARTY POLITICS - the PARTY with the most seats wins. The Liberals did not have more, neither did the rest of them.

If it comes down to it, let the people vote (again). If they wanted to vote for a party composed of separatists, the the PEOPLE will have spoken.

Comprising a party - the "coalition" - with separatists may very well change the tune of some voters. BUT - let US decide.

If we were thinking rationally, instead of venting emotionally, we would hold our noses and hope to hell that this f#@ked-up coalition will work with a Liberal as Prime Minister; that it will work relatively smoothly,; and that it will work for a relatively long time.

When we talk about "lust for power", we have to realize that Harper's is as lustful as this coalition's. 10 years ago, his disdain for Canada was epitomized in his characterization of Canada being in a "pre-civil-war" political state. Also "... a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term".

Really??? But since it is coming through this economic recession better than most, is this so bad???

Harper saw HIS chance for power in the demise of the PC conservatives, exactly the same way that Layton sees HIS, in the demise of the Liberals.

Neither of these extremes are going to make Canada great. You better hope for a resurgence of a Liberal-like centrist party, or be prepared for a very divisive country in which Quebec surely will secede, and Alberta probably follow... or vice versa.

----

Here is the NDP's motiviation.

The NDP works best as "moral influence" or "balance of power" party.

The LIBERALS owe (owed) their success to being able to operate from the centre with selected social ideas from them (the NDP), but also with selected "conservative" policies from the "old" conservative right. Even Canada's "conservative" governments have been relatively centrist rather than right.

In 2003, the planets aligned. The Alliance party bought the conservative brand, at the very moment when the Liberals tripped. And Layton saw his chance.

First of all, there was now little chance of the Liberals holding power, and thus the NDP's moral influence has disappeared. Secondly, there is virtually no chance of this particular brand of "conservatism" being influenced in any way by the NDP.

This "coalition" gambit by the NDP, therefore, will have one of two outcomes, both of them good for the NDP.

If it succeeds, at least the NDP will have had their day of influence.

BUT IF IT FAILS, it might even be a LARGER benefit to them. It will probably decimate the Liberals in the next election and the NDP are looking to replace them as the "left" party. Knowing that Canadians have a long-term distrust of right-wing conservatism, (which Harper's party undeniably is), I believe that the NDP actually see themselves coming out of this with a good shot at POWER, eventually.... not just of opposition.

Which brings us to a two party system at polar extremes, just like the past 8 years south of the border.

Obama is trying to correct that down there.... Since Harper and Layton on intent on implementing it up here, I would suggest that it might be a good idea to stop them. Hopefully, the Liberals can get their act together long enough to do so....

I agree. Hold another election. The Ballot should read

New Libs on the Green Bloc

Conservative

The idea of the GG being reluctant to call an election so soon after having one doesn't hold water these days. In the past to hold an election and have everyone in place was a much greater challenge. The country is a much smaller place with the different technologies and advances in travel an election can be put together very rapidly.
