Shared many a coffee with "IOS" at Skycharter. A walking "history book". I'll raise a glass to you, my old friend.

Top-of-the-pops to ya Mr. Irv Shoichet.
Your stories you shared with us young and up in coming pilots will be remembered. It was a pleasure to work with you.
My thoughts go out to the family.

Mr Shoichet was a class act I'll hoist one for him to-nite.

Re: R.I.P. - Irv Shoichet of Skycharter (1925 - 2008)
Hmmm, I recall my first visits to Skycharter, back when they had the Brethour Realty Sabreliner CF-BRL, Mr. Wolfe's (Oshawa Group) Lear 24 CF-CSS.
Then along came Irv's first Lear 25B C-FSAS, and Delzotto's Lear 25 C-GPDZ, that Skycharter looked after.
I worked for Skycharter when Irv and Rubinoff bought the Falcon 10 demonstator N10FJ, which they still fly today as C-GRIS. I actually was invited to fly down to Arkansas City Kansas on the Falcon 10 when Irv bought another Lear 25B which later became C-GSKL.
If anyone remembers a rifle lying around Skycharter, Irv sent me $100 to go buy it a KMART, to shoot the pools of water trapped in the roof insulation!!!
I was a very close friend of the late Ken Obrien of Shell Oil, when they signed a deal with Innotech, giving Innotech the vacant land against Derry Rd for their new FBO, and made Skycharter the Shell Distributor.
It was Gulf Oil prior to that.
I have many memories of Skycharter and Mr. Shoichet, and a lot of fun times. Looking back now, some really funny stories, and Mr. Shoichet had a really good sense of humour.
Fridays at Skycharter where fun, Shoichet, Quigley, and Knox would have a couple of drinks a really lighten up . . . they'ed phone downstairs, tell jokes, and make silly requests.
Last time I saw Richard, he had long hair and a bandana, now I hear he runs the show. Brian worked on the ramp for short time, and wanted to be an astronaut!!!
There was a time Skycharter was a leader in its field, and even ahead of its time. Even EJA which is now known as Netjets, was a small corporate jet company out of Columbus, no bigger than Skycharter.
Then there was our spotless hangar, all the Americans would comment on how well the place was maintained.
Oh, and our infamous fire, that burned down the lounge area. Fortunately the head mechanic at the time, Wally Clow (Co-Owner of Enterprise Air, YOO) lived nearby in Malton. He towed all the jets and other aircraft outside, as the offices burned.
Skyport in the 60's, 70', Field Aviation, Innotech, Leavens, Commander, Carl Millard, Execaire and Irv. Anyone who met Irv, remember his wry smile and a voice many pilots mimic to this day!!! I've often down my own imitation, and it takes you back to the Skycharter days instantly.
So from the many, many ex-Skycharter staff, many who fly for Canada's airlines today, are in corporate aviation, and other positions involved in aviation - thanks for the memories.
It is very sad hearing of Mr. Shoichet's passing, but he had a great, long life, and in the end, it was all about family.
