Re: Winter Coat
Marks Work Wear House has some coats that'll work for you. I spent many years flying in the north. Gone the full circle from having to have a Snow Goose, or something like it, to a fleecy and an outer shell. If you don't spend time standing around in the cold, a big parka is just too much. Good to have one stuffed in the airplane somewhere, but you can't actually "fly" wearing one.

Right on.. thanks... I'll check that out.. I don't spend too much time outside as I do Medevacs, based out of YXD, but we do get the odd trip up to Inuvik or Whitehorse and would hate to get caught with my pants down without a warm coat. Im not too worried about wearing one in the plane as the King air gets toasty warm in the cockpit very fast. I am still however trying to find a way to keep the ear seals on the headset warm! lol.

Buy one of these online.
I found mine at Costco in Edmonton last winter. 200 bones and has been excellent. It is way cheaper then all the competition, looks good (In Grey), and best of all quite warm. You get the odd feather out of the seams here and there, but it's no biggie.

I picked up a big puffy from mec.ca and it's amazing. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_deta ... 4442627218
Toasty warm (read: SO warm,) waterproof, looks nice, super comfortable, lots of pockets and a sweet insulated removable hood. Made in CA
I love it

Whitehorse has an average winter temperature about 3 degrees colder than Edmonton. I wouldn't get a special jacket just for that.

I've gone with the Helly Hanson stuff this year. Saw enough guys getting on the airplane to go to work at the diamond mines to convince me.
Re: Winter Coat

Re: Winter Coat
Couple guys on here are selling their Canada Goose parkas... I'd buy a second hand CG before any of those other jackets.
I got mine new for 100 bucks, so I got pretty lucky.

How much do they want for that? Might be a little less bulky than my Snow Goose.....which BTW can be yours for a couple of bills. Like new, men's large, dark blue.

Re: Winter Coat
No markings at all. Just Snow Goose. Just the "Arctic Program" on the shoulder. Clear ID pockets on sleeve and chest. That's about it. One kidney warmer. The other has gone AWOL. No rips or blemishes. Way too bulky for me. I'd be better with a medium.Just another canuck wrote:Yours a Mantra or Resolute Doc?

Re: Winter Coat
They should call me "THE NORTH FACE MAN"..... oh wait.. a couple people already do
The ice parka is pretty nice and warm. My Mcmurdo is fantastically warm. That in a medium would be flawless. Theres a ton out there. Pick something that fist you nicely and allows good movement while not being stupidly bulky. MUST BE WINDPROOF!
