name in logbook
Just taking a quick poll as im curious what everyone out there puts in their personal logbook when they are refering to themselves? Do you simply put Self or do you put your last name? Or something else? Thanks.
Re: name in logbook
I started using my first inital and last name, but since then have restarted my log book using self. Self makes more sense as it can never be mistaken, where if I took up someone with the same first inital and my same last name it can be confused.

Re: name in logbook
It makes sence rightup until you fly with someone named self......since than I've used my last name
I think that if you stick to the dotted lines when making the folds your might have some aviation success.

Re: name in logbook
I put 'self' because I saw an old WWII RAF log book and that's what the pilot used.

What is a logbook?
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

You know, Cat, that dusty, hard covered, book type thing that was last seen in the shed underneath the coffee container with all the nails and screws in it.......Cat Driver wrote:What is a logbook?

Re: name in logbook
I have a vague memory of having owned some log books, however I quit keeping them because every time I got divorced my ex wife's kept them as mementos and possibly as sexual enhancers.

Re: name in logbook
Uhhh...just reminded me that I need to do my yearly logbook entries... Oh well - when the the new "TC mandated Personal Logbooks" come into effect (with your mugshot plastered/watercoloured into each page), maybe it'll inspire me to update it once a month...lol...

What's this about?
I write nothing
If it's written in your logbook you obviously were there, Write the name of the other crew member and thats it, the PIC/CO column will decide where you were sitting.

Take my love
Take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
You cannot take the sky from me

Re: name in logbook
Initial and last name does it for me. I sometimes write the full name the first time a person appears in my log.
Plus there was a policy letter TC issued to Quebec FTUs that stated they wanted it like that in PTRs as well. (Part of a set named the Procédures pour les Unités de formation au pilotage du Québec - PUQ") IIRC, it said something about photocopies and loose pages being identifiable.
Haven't used "Moi" so far and I don't plan to either, and I've already flown with a lady whose last name was Self.

Re: name in logbook
Thanks for the interesting responses. if i cant decide on one particular wording, I may just start throwing in random entries from the forum in the future so when im old, senile, and everything is new again i can look back and wonder what the hell i was thinking.
