Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
Why do these forums always become pissing contests...The purpose of these forums are to educate and share knowledge, to answer questions and to learn from others' mistakes. So my question again... Does anyone know where the fixed wing ops are to be based?
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
yxl, yts, tqt, and yyz
your mom looks good
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
Has anyone been interviewed for the FO position? Does anyone know when they are going to start operating there planes?
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
yyz is not a base as stated above. the other 3 are correct. yyz may be one in the future, but is not now.
first gs will start end of march with subsequent gs's being staggered periodically after that. so far, seems very professional. will most likely be a very good, stable company to fly for.
will be operating 4 brand new pc12/47 ng's by end of year and 2 more next year....that's the plan anyway.
have no other details...

As for the first plane online, I'm sitting here in YQT and the first newly painted Ornge pilatus just showed up here from completion in Denver. Looks like the other orange king air's with a little extra white swoosh.. doesn't make that paint job look any better though.
Odds are it will be over at Kelner soon enough to get finished.

Why the US reg?
We're all here, because we're not all there.
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
Looks like its just stuck on. Maybe needed something to stick on it while doing finishing work in the states...
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
Nice quick pics btw Lifejet! (and my wife says she likes the paint scheme!) Yuck.
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
maybe the orange paint scheme is to help rescuers find the plane if the PT6 quits over Tiger country!!!!
why would anyone want to fly a pc12 anyway?

Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
A certain airline back in the 70's and 80's had a orange paint scheme
cp air. Also the orginal okanagan helicopters ( c.h.c) had their fleet in orange backin the 70's had a slogan to "orange is really OK" that is still copyrighted.
As for the the 12 abc . we know ya fly one. are just tryin' to get some reACTION.
1/TO FLY IT IS KNOW that an holding an legal USEABLE alternate
up to 1000+ miles can be done. 2700lbs fuel buring less than
400pds/hr fl250 doing block speed 230kts ( give or take 10knts)
2/Ever notice how happy people are at 4am after having to get out of a warm bed to fuel your aircraft in -30c wx. In an out of the way location .How happy are you to stand there too? The 12 can overfly and with patients needing to be moved = greater utilization ( the debate about that on re: private enterprize vs public unions will go on forerver ) I will leave it at that.
3/Situational awareness with all that tech stuff is par excellence.
4/Ever tried to load a 400lb incubator through a door of a beech(Except 200c model) a few times a hernia is a real possibility
the 12 makes it slick and relatively easy.
5/ all it takes is a qualified maintenance staff to maintain them
follow the inpection program and no problems . then that pt6 is a solid performer .
6/ fuel costs alot of $$$ and since the average taxpayer is footing the bill for this makes sense to get more for the dollar
7/ for those on the enviromental band wagon it has a lot smaller carbon footprint .. .
fly safe all..

Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
The us reg's goes like this the manufactuer has a standard hb ( swiss reg) in this case 983 is the 883rd pilatus produced ( pilatus choose 101 as the first production pilatus as a marketing tool so that buyer initially would assume that there are already a 100 in service and it must be a good product.) . aircraft from stans swizterland destined for N.A. go to broomfield colorado u.s.a.( usually by iceland /goose bay/ and cyqt )
for interior completion. The us reg is assigned to get the faa type certificate applied to that aircraft ,so that if and when the aircraft is sold
already has a prevoius 'N' # making the process simplified.
Then in this case, the aircraft were order through the exculsive Cdn distributor ( V. KELNER AIRWAYS) CYQT . Now that the aircraft are in Canada. they go through the t.c. importation process and registration
whether ornge has reserved a 'block of reg's" is unknown but moving on.
This can take a few weeks and erst-while the required mission equipment is installed
ie sat phones , medical, electrical requirement, and the like. In this case
one would suspect a big public handover considering the large public tax dollars involved and the required photo ops'.
hope that clarifies the process.

Yes, I figured that this was what was going on, however I thought the proper way was to get an export c of a before it left the states, and bring it in with a canadian reg already on it?oldncold wrote:The us reg's goes like this the manufactuer has a standard hb ( swiss reg) in this case 983 is the 883rd pilatus produced ( pilatus choose 101 as the first production pilatus as a marketing tool so that buyer initially would assume that there are already a 100 in service and it must be a good product.) . aircraft from stans swizterland destined for N.A. go to broomfield colorado u.s.a.( usually by iceland /goose bay/ and cyqt )

So what are the general thoughts on this new venture, will it be a real awesome job or just another slave position?
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Sounds mediocre at best. Must have lots of applicants (as always) though.
I'd have a bit of fear of the wrong person finding out how much money is being wasted and pulling the plug. Much like how I live in fear of someone finding out how much money is wasted on the reserves and shutting those down. But I could handle that one for the greater good.

My bet is if they advertised for pilots with a salary of $24,000 a year they would be swamped with applicants willing to cut each others throats to get the job.

Kick a trash can, and out come Ornge wannabes! I'd bet they'd crawl out of the forest for 18K a year!
Nice sales job Frank!

standards and behavior are two different things cat, and as you know, standards will raise when behavior will diserve it

by the way Ornge add was saying 30.000 >> 40.000 for F/O, not 20000 or 18000................

As long as there is a huge surplus of pilots there will be no change...that is the problem.standards and behavior are two different things cat, and as you know, standards will raise when behavior will diserve it
If a company offered one of those new machines to pilots with the agreement you had to fly the first year for no pay they would probably still get applicants.

Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
What about bonds? I heard the CP is one of voyageur's finest. I'd imagine a briefcase full of cash would help you through the second interview. What's with the second interview anyways? Why didn't you ask everything in the first interview? Are travel expenses being paid for these applicants?
Re: Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!
Is there a bond like Voyageur has?
Is it money up front?
That has to suck to buy your own job. its hard enough handing money over to do an instrument rating and I may not get a job at the end of the training.
30 -40 K ... so they offer 30 K untill someone accepts the position at that salary. Cats right they will have a field day with the mass of unemployed pilots out there.
you still wont get me on the PC12 unless I am in a coma and I dont know you are transporting me on the machine.
