Who Rotates?

Post by duckfoot »

Hey guys and girls,

I'm trying to make a list of operators that rotate crews. Is there anyone left out there that will rotate you anywhere in Canada? Many companies offer to bring you to the closest "big city" but is anyone doing anywhere in Canada?

Thanks

When times are good, and companies are desperate for pilots, they'll usually do almost anywhere. When times are slow, they will require you to be in one of a handful of cities.

Having said that, there are still companies that rotate, but other than Borek, most rotations are probably much longer than most people want, and quite possibly not the type of flying many pilots want to do. I'm talking about survey companies of course.

First Air rotates for the Iqaluit base (2 weeks on 2 weeks off). Out of Ottawa or Montreal. You can live anywhere in the country but its up to you to get to a First Air destination to get to work.

Cheers,

Brent

Sanders in Ottawa I believe does. Month on/month off. As well as Voyageur for overseas bases... CH I assume do too.

Usually any company that flies way up north rotates their crews to keep everyone happy

Is there ever any contracts that require crews to rotate so they don't go crazy?

Do you think that to live up north you have to be crazy?

I guess that depends on what your definition of "way up north" is.

JC's would be different from mine, and mine could be different from yours.

Crazy? Not necessarily.

I thought that a company or organization might require that the pilots be given some time away from really small communities just to keep spirits up or something like that. Kind of like getting some time away from the fighting front in a war or something like that...and i'm not saying the two are the same.

I've heard people say that YSB is way up north. Up north for me growing up was Bute Inlet. Now it's YCB or higher. Things change.
