The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

., curious what you think of the mapping. I spoke to Anywhere Map and they said that Canada was not yet supported??
Like everything I see if it is. How do you find the auto mapping?

thanks, Ray

I believe they told you Canada is not yet supported for XM weather. For sure everything else is in the database for Canada.

If you mean auto scale it works just fine.

I have been using Anywheremap all over the world since it first came on the market and personally think it is the best portable GPS available.

Thanks, had it special built at the factory with a basic instrument panel.

Once it was delivered to the dealer we had the EI instrument package and the Garmin radio , transponder and intercom installed.

We have two portable GPS's and XM weather and radio in it also.

Can't wait to fly it on the Amphibs. we should get the time to do the final installation finished soon.

I just bought the Av8tor and I love it. It is very easy to read both in flight and in the car. Some people have complained about the backlight not being bright enough in direct sunlight. I think anything you shine direct sunlight on will be hard to read. I have only used it for one flight so cannot comment too much on that aspect of the unit yet.

I have used it extensively in the car on trips to cities in the US and it has yet to send me in the wrong direction and has tons of POI's. It acquires a signal pretty quick and is very accurate. Unlike the Magellan I used to have, it has not tried to send me the wrong way down a one way street.

I am on the road now so I don't have time to do a full write up but feel free to PM me if you have any questions.....

Hi!
I just got an ATC and there is absolutely not any info about canadian airspace. The unit work great, I like it but is useless in Canada. Is there a way to update the database to get Canada's airspace? Thanks!

OK looking to buy a ATC with Xm WX. The company tells me that they are upgrading the maping for flying and will have better airspace coverage. IS anyone curerently using this ATC unit with XM WX and if so, are you pleased with it for the money??

Thank you

I Don't use the WX feature on the ATC , but airspace data is there for Canada now since a month ago, used the ATC on various flights and works good, except when flying faster then 225KTS it's not happy (Known issue with the unit & no fix coming)

Also, there is a new version released of their software which makes map rotation much better than what it was. (not instant yet, but approx 2 -3 second delay in turns now worst case)

I think the unit is worth the 500US they are asking.

Personally I find the WX subscription too expensive @ 60/CDN per month and rely
on GFA, stormscope, Radar and rest.

Thank you for the info. I just wanted to make sure that what the company said, was acurrate. For the money it does appear to be a decent value. If I could afford it, I would go with a garmin 396 or 496 which I think are better units, but again for the money...

Thank you
