...it is a well known fact that Koolaid can alter the state of mind of some humans. This particular kind is produced in Calgary and it's effects have embarrassed more often than not (may this forum be proof!). But like alcohol it can help one alter reality and give confidence when necessary. A great tool me thinks!!

Oh, I wouldn't say that buddy. That was really painful. We could have used some of your KY.

When i fly, I try to avoid airplanes all together, cause I too have experienced those damn FA's talking during the safety briefing, and it also keeps me up.

Toilet Paper Game?
I think that if you stick to the dotted lines when making the folds your might have some aviation success.
Re: Is this how we treat people?
Toilet paper games no more now that there are TV's on board. And I actually got a kick out of that. Most westerners did!

I commute on Westjet quite a lot (recip). No complaints and I appreciate the option. Anyone with quibbles might consider that the price is certainly right!!
It's pure goofiness that we (AC) can only carry as many recip people as we have jumpseats. I think it's being worked on but don't hold your breath.

I feel embarrassed that you guys have to pay to commute with us. On behalf of the pilot group (well I'm guessing that most feel the same way) we're trying to 'fix' this.mulligan wrote:I commute on Westjet quite a lot (recip). Cheers
P.S. That aside, I'm glad to hear that it's working out for you
Re: Is this how we treat people?
First, let me say this is the first time I have ever been happy that a topic has been so sidetracked. This thread started out as nothing more than an attention getter filled with worthless heresay information similar to a grade school rumor mill. Someone wanted to be the popular person with exciting news, made up or not. Very sad that WJ company personnel would bring forth such information to a public forum and try to show such a negative side, even if it were true. I don't believe it at all.
I would also like to address a few points that have been made since.
Commuting: As a F/A, I too am shocked that anyone ever has anything but a magnificent time while commuting on us. I go above and beyond to make sure their voyage is made as easy as possible, such as crew waters and comping food and/headsets. I think most of us treat recip pilots and crew with great respect, much like they were our own.
Second: toilet paper game: Wake up and PLEASE realize that this hasn't been "played" in at least 3 years. Please also research: Pogo stick, neon clothing, and acid wash jeans.
Commuting again: As an F/A. I sure wish we had agreements as well. We're supposed to be all equals here right? I don't commute, but think it would save a LOT of stress if commuting F/As were also allowed to ride in the back. As far as big red paying while on us, I completely disagree but have heard the argument that if we cannot let our own employees travel free, we cannot allow others to. I don't agree, and wish this would change, but also wish F/As were given consideration as well instead of being treating like second breeders not even comparable to pilots, but that's a whole different thread.
As for being felt like you were disrespected on any flight, PLEASE do not NOT do anything about it. Rather than wait to vent your frustrations here, talk to the PIC directly after the flight. Then, if you feel it was truly inappropriate, send a letter in. I am certain that things "similar" to what has been discussed do indeed happen on the very rare occasion, but believe that it involves less than 1% of our company and hope with letter from you, to our company, instead of complaints on here, those people can be weeded out.

Re: Is this how we treat people?
I first got hired in 1981 and in those days employees traveled in any seat available. Flt deck or F/A jumpseats were all used. The idea of leaving someone behind when a seat was available would have been considered as ludicrous. In fact, I was thinking about starting a "ludicrosity index" for some of the goofier measures we have to tolerate these days. Gonna put it on the General forum. Yup, I know there's no such word as ludicrosity.....
