Newer Hires, How much time did you have?

Post by Rog »

Just wondering what some of the new hires over the last couple years had for flight time and experience. Hours and types flown. Thanks.

There were a very very few that didn't at least have command time on a plane over 12,500. Most of that select group had a fantastic connection which seemed to help grease the wheels. As was mentioned before, everything from wide body captains and CF-18 or Herc pilots on the top end, to I believe one lucky guy flying a twin commander or another guy off a PC-12 on the low end. If you were to look at where most of the people came from I believe you'd see the top 4 in order something close to this.

1. Jazz
2. Georgian
3. CMA
4. The military

I recently flew with a new guy who had 2500TT and only 43 multi when he was hired last year. One of the sharpest pilots I have had the pleasure to fly with and look forward to working with him again.

Hello.

I had 7500 TT, lots of PIC time and Saab Captain. The lowest time in my class had 4000 she was young as well. The average was about 7000 hours. Some Jazz, Canjet, corp jet etc... Most had captain time on planes as large or larger then the Beech 1900. There was 500 new hires before me. Nobody had any connections in my class. There was a King Air captain and a Twin Otter captain as well.

A lot of range after a few hundred are hired.

There was a huge range in experience and age in my PIT course. From mid 20-something 2500TT King Air driver to 12,000+TT retired military off the Herc. Half were from Jazz and the other half from corporate/charter/cargo. I had around 6,000TT. I suspect there wont be much more hiring done before the arrival of the 787.

Just curious who had a aviation diploma versus a regular four year degree?
I know that it is almost 100% regular 4 year at US major airlines

Aviation technology diploma for me. Lots, of Sault, Seneca, Confed, MRC, Selkirk, MFC people hired every wave. It's definitely not a bad way to score easy points on a hiring process that's so competitive that even 1 or 2 points can make a difference.

AC hasn't hired in a while. Are there still "new hires" there? The junior guys should be on second year pay at least.

Actually the last course was Sept 2008. All of them were frozen guys and gals from Jazz though.
