Ornge is based in Sioux Lookout. Air Sprint is based in my home town Montreal.
That about says it.

Think 5 years ahead. With any luck at Sprint you'll be a Captain on a late model twin jet out of Montreal. With ORNGE you'll be a Captain on a single engine PC-12 out of North Ontario.

You've been misinformed. Ornge requires 10K up front.
I can't confirm 100% Doc but I believe the bond has been dropped. Maybe thanks to you and your tirades

Doubt it had anything to do with posts here......some letters to certain MPPs might have been an issue though.....that and 260 million reasons the tax payer should remain in the dark?

Yes... well staying living in Montreal and the possibility of upgrading to a Citation are both extremely very compelling arguments.

I'm just wondering how viable the charter business will be in the next several years with this economy. Having a family forces you to take into account these other aspects of the job.

I agree though.. if I take Ornge... after a couple of years... what planes will they have for me to upgrade to?

You think ORNGE will be there after a change of government ?
You have not been paying attention to the scandel at e-health with just a few millions of untendered contracts.
ORNGE is at 260 millions and counting wait until the press gets a hold of some of those documents detailing WHO authorised that kind of spending .
QUICK CLUE ; If you cannot find 260 millions in the budget as approved by the legislature ,you are on the right trail.

I'd put both ORNGE and Sprint in the same category regarding job security. Let's suppose the probability of a layoff at Westjet is 0.05. At Jetsgo, it was 0.95. I'd put ORNGE and Sprint at about 0.15. I don't have statistics to back this up, it's just my gut feeling and more to make a point than to do math on. It's also my gut feeling that ORNGE is no more secure than AirSprint, although the scenarios which might trigger layoffs would be different.

Since you're applying for F/O positions, I assume you're low time.

So, you take a job at AirSprint. 6 years later you get laid off. Assume you went Citation Captain at year 5. You'd have over 500 multi and perhaps 500 multi on a twin engine, "glass", jet on CAR 704. Can we say "hello Westjet"? Westjet has virtual bases. You could live in Montreal very easily. Plus you'd be eligible for almost any job in Montreal, including PC-12 if you wanted it.

You take a job at ORNGE. 6 years later you get laid off. You've got 1000 or more on a single engine CAR 703 aircraft. Without multi time you're pretty well "hooped". Westjet requires 500 hours multi time. Many companies require more.

Air Sprint 28K+10K (which you keep in YOUR jeans)=38K in the bank at the end of they year.....do the math.
Where did you learn math
40k -10 is 30 Ornge
28K - 0 is 28 Air sprint
looks like you're ahead with Ornge by 2K . . . if you're a dipp shit and if your not you're ahead 12k

HORUNNER.....you should work for Ornge. Single engine, so you really don't have to "think" all that much about a pesky engine failure. The "bed" will already be made for you. Totally "Dipp Shit" proof.
And, since you don't seem to be able to spell, eg, "dipp" the word "ornge" shouldn't bother you too much?
Have at it, dude. The door is open, and the keys are in it!

OK everyone.. thank you for your opinions.

I think I will take Air Sprint. The money isn't as good, but getting an upgrade to a Citation is nothing to ignore. Living in Montreal is much better than Sioux Lookout. So my standard of living will be good.

The only thing is job security which is probably better at Ornge. But I will take that chance.

By the way, Ornge never asked for a 10K bond.

Thank you again

Congrats Synth

There's a lot to be said for staying home where your family will be happy. Your money won't help you through pain and hardship like your family and friends will.

Enjoy.
