Small plane crashes near Waterloo International Airport
Mon, June 29, 2009
By THE CANADIAN PRESS
KITCHENER — Authorities are on the scene of a small plane crash near Region of Waterloo International Airport.
An airport spokeswoman, Sandy DaSilva, would only confirm that there has been a crash and did not have additional details.
DaSilva added that it was “not a huge jet” but a “small aircraft” that went down at the eastern edge of the airport.
A witness who identified himself only as Daryl told Kitchener radio station 570News that the plane appeared to overshoot a runway.
He didn’t see the plane hit the ground, but says the aircraft was in flames by the time he got to the scene.

The fire has reportedly been extinguished and there is no word on how many people may have been on board, and DaSilva said she did not know if there had been any injuries.
Hopefully everyone makes it out of this one ok

Re: Waterloo Crash
It was a Europa. Didn't see the crash, but talked to a couple people who did. Sounds like a stall/spin.
My condolences to the guy's family. The police were just starting the process of finding out who he was when I left the scene.

Re: Waterloo Crash
Based on the pics and video released by the media, it seems to have been the single main retractable gear version:

I'll just sneak through here... they'll never see me if I stay low.

Too bad, poor guy was likely just out enjoying the nice morning weather. Pouring rain here now though.
