Re: Harmony airlines
What was the name of that Hong Kong based B747(low cost) Airline that just went under this summer?
They seemed to be doing alright, but, couldn't keep it going. Would a new Harmony be any different?

Re: Harmony airlines
Oasis. By all accounts they were doing ok but the company finances were raided to pay other bills.
You can interpret that however you would like.

And in other news...
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver-based, Hong Kong billionaire David Ho has been arrested by Vancouver Police and is charged with the unlawful confinement of a sex trade worker. The former owner and CEO of Harmony Airways is also accused of unlawfully causing bodily harm, four weapons charges and one count of possessing a controlled substance.
VPD Superintendent Rob Rothwell says the arrest comes after an incident on December 28, 2008. "It is believed that Mr. Ho made contact with a woman on a chat line, and arrangements were made for Mr. Ho to pick that woman up and return to his home with her. This did occur, and at approximately 4:45 the following morning, the woman--now known as the victim--indicated that she wanted to leave, and it is alleged that Mr. Ho prevented her from doing so."
Rothwell says the woman suffered a fractured ankle as she tried to get away. "It's alleged a struggle then ensued with Mr. Ho, during which the victim sustained bruising, scrapes and injuries of a minor nature. She did however successfully escape the home. Unfortunately in doing so she suffered a fractured ankle. Once outside, the victim's screams were heard by neighbours and police were called."
The woman's age and name have not been released. Ho appeared in court today and was released on $100,000 bond. Ho, 57, was also a friend of former Vancouver Police Chief Jamie Graham.

Re: Harmony airlines
How ironic, Ho nailed for nailing a ho.
How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.
Re: Harmony airlines
You can add to that drugs and firearms charges. Global BC was saying a loaded 9mm along with cocaine and cannabis.
By the way, he paid his $100,000 bail, in cash.
Vancouver Sun: SEPTEMBER 28, 2009 5:45 PM - "Ho is charged with unlawful confinement, unlawfully causing bodily harm, storage of a firearm contrary to regulations, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited firearm without a license and possession of a controlled substance."

Re: Harmony airlines
David Ho just might have more problems than running an airline according to Global TV. Something about numerous charges stemming from an assault and unlaw detaining a prostitute, illegal use of a restricted weapon..etc, etc.
Re: Harmony airlines
What a "surprise"! He always had an appetite for the Night Fighters...In reality, Ho actually never had much to do with running Harmony, he let his high priced left overs from CAIL/CP and his parachutes from his various "Circles" wreck it for him...let's see if he can squeeze out of this one
Re: Harmony airlines
On a side note, I wonder if the government just wanted him to pay them a huge bail in order to put more money into the economy. Yes, I know I have no clue about the economy. I just find it interesting how the system knows that he can buy him self out of the crime he did; is this potentially a good way to make money off of a rich businessman who is perhaps on a bad standing with the canadian government?By the way, he paid his $100,000 bail, in cash.

Re: Harmony airlines
What complexintentions means is that bail is a sum of money an accused person puts up as collateral in order to be let out of jail pending their trial. They get the money back when they show up for trial, or they forfeit the money if they don't. The government doesn't get to keep it unless the person disappears.loopa wrote:On a side note, I wonder if the government just wanted him to pay them a huge bail in order to put more money into the economy. Now if Ho is convicted and issued a fine then the government does get to keep the money, but $100,000 is even more meaningless to the government than it is to Ho so it's not likely the Feds are trying to pay off the national debt by fining people who abuse hookers.
Re: Harmony airlines
It's admirable that someone doesn't understand how bail works... naive, but admirable never to have found yourself in that situation. All that is needed is a couple of Law & Order shows to get up to speed.

I do not think Mr. Ho has anything to do with Harmony any longer.
The corporation was bought by the EIIF - The same company which has ownership in Perimeter, Keewatin/Kivalliq and Calm Air:

Re: Harmony airlines
Yes and I'm addicted to prevent breast cancer by giving away free exams. Does he really think that line would work? Seriously, donate money to Women Support Center instead Mr. Ho.

Doesnt David Ho also own the Jaguar or Porche dealership on Burrard St in Vancouver?

Trust me..Harmony still belongs to David Ho..always has, always will..its just up to him when he wants to start again (or if he starts again). And while some of the guys have jobs flying for Emirates and Cathay, not everyone is thinking they struck paydirt with those jobs..its not exactly a bed of roses working there, either...the only advantage is they probably will have a job in 5 years..not like canadian aviation..much more volatile!
But you never know, some might come back...it was the best job I ever had, that's for sure!!
Cheers!
Re: Harmony airlines
Harmony is dead.
He's been trying since it shut down and no-one is taking him seriously due to the mess he created last time around. Have no fear though - other oppertunities are cooking.

Could be the old cliche "How to make a million dollars in Aviation ,Start with a billion"
Just remember he is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.He was probably just doing some management reasearch so he could better deal with some of the whores in aviation

M4210/H210-4-1
M4210/H210-4-2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In its Decision No. 557-A-2007, the Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency), pursuant to paragraphs 63(2)(b), 72(2)(b) and 75(2)(b) of the Canada Transportation Act, S.C., 1996, c. 10, as amended (CTA), suspended the domestic, non-scheduled international and scheduled international licences of HMY Airways Inc. carrying on business as Harmony Airways (Licensee).
In its Decision No. 541-A-2008 dated October 23, 2008, the Agency suspended the licences again at the request of the Licensee and provided the Licensee with one year to file an application to reinstate the licences. If within one year the application for reinstatement was not filed, or the Licensee did not meet any of the applicable requirements of the CTA, the Licensee would be provided with an additional 30 days following the expiry of one year to show cause why the licences should not be cancelled.
In response to the Decision, the Licensee has requested that the licences remain suspended from October 23, 2009 to January 21, 2010 and not be cancelled.
Due to the lengthy time the licences have been suspended, the Agency orders that the licences remain suspended for a further 90 days effective on October 23, 2009 during which time the Licensee is required to meet all the applicable requirements of the CTA or the licences will be cancelled without further notice.
