First for me was a C172M out of Rockcliffe. Call sign was GWZA, which has also since been destroyed.

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
Mine was a short flight, bout 3 seconds. Made from 8.5x11 inch paper.
Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
My first logbook entry was in February 1975 in an Aeronca 7DC, 85 hp. on skis off the Chapleau River.
Before that, my dad used to have me fly his C180 from the right seat on our frequent flights between Sudbury and Chapleau so he could doze off for an hour.

Don't you mean Bill Sampson and Brent NeilsonLiquid Charlie wrote:I was just going to post and see how many here were at the "old" BFCCF-NUT a clapped out white and blue 1958 Cessna 172 in 1968 at the BFC. @ $12/hr wet Those were the days my friend.

Bill left BFC for Seneca and has probably retired years ago and I've lost touch with the crazy Dane. Your remember Eddy Barnstaple, Larry Mitchell, Pat Arsenault?
Eddy was my ppl destructor and had Larry my cpl. Larry went to Nord Air and then AC after a short gig at Penisula . I ran into him years ago when you could still visit a cockpit.
BTW I learned on the CITABRIA forget the registration and I'm too lazy to dig out log book #1.

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
Bent -- was my first instructor and he was danish and married to the craziest newfy i ever met - she use to beat him up physically -- too funny -- Roger Tessier was the CFI when I was learning and I certainly knew the names you mention -- Chris Sampson was not around the club then - He actually was at the new club for a while as an instructor - but I grew up with him --
Bent was an interesting guy -- think the booze was always a devil with him but after being the soul adult survivor (a kid got out) of a pig boat accident in Greenland where the nose wheel door opened up and sliced the hull open would have a tendency to drive one to drink -- he was always Bent to everyone -- maybe his real name was Brent
It was truly a club back then -- I spent a lot of time in my j-3 exploring farm strips and dropping into Mayfield for coffee at the Pallet Farm.
When they moved up the road it was an end of an era

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
The rates back in 88 were 46/21 for the 152 and 51/21 for the 172. The Citabria was 70/30. Jean-Guy Leclerc was the owner and was one of the instructor that thought me discipline. Very rough on you if you didn't study but again what a Man!

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
First time I got to take the controls was in an air cadet 2-33 glider (C-GFMN) at Age 12. By a strange coincidence, that was the same registration I had my first actual lesson in when I was at CRGS getting my licence. Both my first solo & flight test were C-GCLR, which was later destroyed in an accident

Hey Cienki!
It took reading right to the end of the thread so far to find someone with similar roots! When did you do your first real flight?
Mine was in C-152 GIMH in September of 1998. Seems so long ago now... DLB was always my favorite cause when I was there, she was the fastest 152 of the bunch.

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
The first (and only) time I flew at VFC was a disco flight in March of '05. I was intending to do my training there but ended up at the Ottawa Flying Club. What made DLB faster than the rest? Very cool we've flown the same plane.Travis wrote:It took reading right to the end of the thread so far to find someone with similar roots! When did you do your first real flight?

Re: What was the first plane you ever flew?
DLB was just rigged a little better than the rest, I was told, but it could be either of the other reasons mentioned too...
To be more specific than last time, as some others have:
First flight : C-152 C-GIMH, Victoria Flying Club Sept 1998
First Solo : As above, but in November 1998
PPL Awarded on: The amazing C-152 C-FDLB, April 1999
CPL: C-172 C-GSPY, April 2001
MIFR: Beech D95A Travelair C-FXFG, May 2001
First type rating: Beech 1900 C-GCMZ May 2003
and then it was off to the races...
Thanks to all for sharing...
