Aviation's true colors will shine.

Post by flynbutcher »

Wait till the media/public get a hold of the fact that pilots dished out $30000 to fly for Shits Go. To all the pilots that gave ML the money, I say a big thanks, maybe this will finally put an end to the bullsh#t training bonds that have plagued our industry for too long. It's a hard price to pay, lets hope something positive comes from it!

Don't be naive old boy, we've got 300 unemployed pilots on the street looking for work now. They were desperate before...think about what goes through their mind this time.

If there's one piece of advise I can give to JG pilots, go overseas and don't look back!! More jobs, stable jobs!!

I heard something on the news about the pilots being SOL for the 30000 training. Also heard that some of the crews on overnights got booted out of their hotels since JG wasn't going to pay for the rooms!! Nice way to treat your employees!!

I believe it was CTV who was doing a talk show about this banckruptcy and they were discusussing pilots paying the thirty grand.
The media has that and might I suggest that this forum could be attracting media that may be reporting on some of the things posted in here. If they are we have a great chance to get our side of the industry out there.

I say blow this baby wide open!!! It has to start with the SG pilots themselves. They cant just sheepishly let this lie. They have to go out guns blazing to every TV and Radio station where they live and get the ball of "change" rolling. Right now the JetsGo employees will be the poster boys and girls of the media so it has to start with them.

Then again, my views aren't too popular today it seems...

Right on beechball! It's not like the pilots themselves put themselves in that position! Cry murder about how they got screwed! I doubt there will be much public support.

I think the ball of change, as you put it, rolled in when the first cheque was given to ML.

I could see the public being pissed off that the pilot that flies them has to scrape $hit together for rent/food and just got off a graveyard shift at his 2nd job before arriving at the airport...

That is until they realize if this industry changed like it needs to they couldn't go Vancouver to Calgary for $99.

The Canadian public couldn't care less. The aviation industry in Canada is like a dog running around in circles trying to catch its' tail.

On the eve of the AC-CP merger, the Canadian public was adamant that this country could not support two major airlines. The day after the merger, the Canadian public complained that there could not be a monopoly. Ok so lets tie the hands of AC for awhile to give upstarts a chance. Now we have WJ as big as what the CP domestic fleet was. So where are we now? Right back where we started.

The demise of JG may put an end to the stupidity of 1 dollar and 1 penny sales and unsustainable pricing but will WJ be mature or act like jetsgo and prostitute itself to gain market share?

Unfortunaley, the public has become used to seeing advertisements of 1 dollar to YVR. We all know that is not sustainable but don't think for a second they will want to give that up. So as far as you are concerned, the public doesn't give a rats ass.

Jaques is correct. The public couldn't give a rat's ass how much the pilot paid for his job, or how pooly the pilot is paid. And the public couldn't care less who is out of work, or why. The public only cares about getting cheap fares. The public.....and the media could be our biggest problem here kids.......

what i'd love to see is the SG pilots launch a class-action lawsuit against ML himself. I have no doubt he walked away with a bag-o-cash.
