Hello,
I'm looking into a condensed private flying course that could be taken over a couple of weeks. I'm very busy and
5 months part time is not really an option due to my hectic schedule.
My research has led me to Harv's Air (5 weeks) in Canada, http://www.harvsair.com/site/services/t ... cence.html
and Tailwheels etc in Florida, USA. (says 2 weeks) http://www.tailwheelsetc.com
I have concerns converting the FAA private licence to a canadian private licence, but TC seems to say only a written exam will be needed to convert.
Has anyone been this route ?
I'm in quebec, so anything close to me would be preferable if you know any.
Thanks

There isn't really a condensed Private course. The requirement of 45 Hours is still there, no matter where you go.
Flight training is what you make of it. Most places are flexible, and accommodating. The 5 week quote would be possible at most training units, if you are there everyday, and the school has aircraft and instructors to fly with you.
Go to your local Flight Training Unit, and talk to them. Tell them your situation, and maybe they could help you decide your best option.
BTW, a PPL in 5 weeks is 9 hrs a week, or about 2 hours times 5 days a week. That definitely will not be happening with the onset of winter, as there will be many cancellations due to weather. 5 weeks might be possible in the spring, but figure on 4 -5 months in the winter if you really work at it.

Converting is not hard at all. One exam on Air Law and a Canadian Medical is all that you need.booter12 wrote: I have concerns converting the FAA private licence to a canadian private licence, but TC seems to say only a written exam will be needed to convert.

I have heard of a couple of places in Florida and such that offer accelerated courses. The only thing is that they expect you to show up knowing all the theory and having the written exam completed so that all you need to focus on is the flying part. So it's not impossible, you just have to be motivated and plan everything out.

You can do training as quick (or slow) as you want at any school. The so called "programs" are no relevant. You need the time.(period).
If you want to get it done quick, look into schools current schedules. Ask them how many instructors they have, do they fly past 5:00pm, weekends? etc.
Besides that, your only restraint i money, and of course weather. Which at around this time a year leads to fewer VFR days.
