Okay, for the benefit of everyone on this board, I am sad to see NCA close their doors. I know some of the people who worked there, but for the record this was an extremely high risk venture to begin with. The W's knew what they were facing from the start and still decided to go ahead with it. Any business person worth their salt knows that an airline cannot operate efficiently with only two aircraft. It's impossible. It's a credit to the people at Norcan and NDA that they lasted that long. I think that it was the people, especially the NDAer's not the W's that made the company last as long as it did. They worked their ASSES off. Work days DOUBLED when NCA came into being, while the pay did not. How were these people rewarded? By getting laid off (norcan only). NDA might also become a victim of this gross mismanagement of a company by people who did not give a damn about their people. The president of this company once told someone that 'you should never tell your employees that the company is doing well, because they will ask for more money'. I dont think they really appreciated the blood and sweat that these people gave to the cause. I wish that this didn't happen. There are so many things that could have /should have been done to rectify the problems that led up to this demise, but as they say hindsight is always 20/20. The W's chose to ingnore all the signs and warnings. Everyone involved knew the risks, that they were fighting a losing battle if things continued to be run in this fashion. Their only mistake was not getting out in time, and for the ramp people, whose plight is the worst, I really feel bad for. This is not the first time this has happened and it certainly wont be the last.
P.S. As for the brownies, (thanks SOBDWAJE, a very complete definition) they know who they are. They are the ones who made an already tough living environment almost unbearable. There were some casualties, some voluntary and some NOT. These are the people who, in my books will NEVER get any help or sympathy towards their next job. To the rest, 'Hold your heads up high for the sun will shine again'.

So how many unemployed pilots does that make at Norcanair?
I'm just curious to know how many qualified pilots lost their seat since January after Quebecair Express, Jetsgo, Skyward, and those I don't know about, ceased operations.
It's not really better south of the border. I friend of mine had just been upgraded to the Regional Jet at Independance Air when the company released all pilots that had been hired all the way back to July '99. Ouch!

There were about six "regular" pilots flying the metro with two others co-joes that were back and forth between the metro and ho's. Northern Dene employees are now suffering from "lack-of-confidencistis" and jumping ship. Word on the street is the company has been sold.

Metro has gone back to the lessor in Virginia. Too many ADs outstanding and not in good enough condition for Perimeter apparently. Perimeter is also looking for III Heavies, not straight IIIs.
Question I have is how did Norcan fly it with so many outstanding ADs?

Any owner or wrench twister will tell you that it is easy to fix a problem if you know what it is. These clowns in SK completely lost control of what part was on what airplane. Once you start finding parts on the A/C that don't match the logs(serial # wise) you are in for a real shit show. Lots of money for new or to overhaul parts due to bad book keeping. Lets not forget about the "non approved" parts we may find or the home made stuff that may or may not have contributed to the demise of ol' IPW one September day in La-Ronge. Like C3, JetsGo, Skyward, LamAir and all the other now defunct outfits, so too will the Metro crowd find jobs in this industry...if you havn't trode on your own cock while stepping over others and you now who you are. But what do I know.
