Mission Air
Anyone here that has actually worked there?
With real knowledge?
I have seen about 3 ads in the last year and wonder about the reason for the turn over???
Seems decent enough mon-fri, good pay...?

Not really, you could do far worse. Keep your head on straight, don't push your limits, and enjoy the flying. Out of the two Navajo ads posted, I would say this is the better of the two.

Did you fly there recently? I heard they also do some survey workChanges in Latitudes wrote:Not really, you could do far worse. Keep your head on straight, don't push your limits, and enjoy the flying. Out of the two Navajo ads posted, I would say this is the better of the two.

With good pay and scheds, could this be one of the companies that actually provides a safe stepping stone to the larger 704/705 ops?HORUNNER wrote:I have seen about 3 ads in the last year and wonder about the reason for the turn over???

Re: Mission Air
Yes and there are many many more. Indeed, flying a Navajo or any other aircraft in more remote areas assumes a much narrower margin for error. However, once decent maintenance and company culture have been obtained, the onus of safety and proper decision making rests solely on shoulders of the person at the controls.Widow wrote:With good pay and scheds, could this be one of the companies that actually provides a safe stepping stone to the larger 704/705 ops?HORUNNER wrote:I have seen about 3 ads in the last year and wonder about the reason for the turn over???
So is it a safe stepping stone? That'll be the PIC's call to make.
Re: Mission Air
Heh, I was responding to your post when you changed it. As you had said, there are also companies that are "career positions". Lots of companies do provide a safe environment, though as you say, the ultimate safety of the flight depends on the PIC.
All that to say, HORUNNER, there may be positive reasons for the turnover.

Re: Mission Air
No one has left Mission Air that we know of; Did someone leave a job like that ?
I heard they were hiring another experienced ho driver;
They have two experienced ho drivers now already; one now runs the office.
whats this about a C208B position ?

Re: Mission Air
You sound a bit defensive, I was only asking a question as to why there has been what appears to be a regular turn over.SKYPILOT1956 wrote:No one has left Mission Air that we know of; Did someone leave a job like that ?

It seems to have a good schedule and pay so that only makes one wonder about the inturnal workings of the office.
Last time I checked Mission Air only had one plane so to have two experienced pilots on staff and hiring one more seems silly in the market.
Please share if you know why this is.

Re: Mission Air
higher time but well maintained navajos the mechanic knows what hes doing. If i had to fly the ho it would be there.
the owners are great and carry with them a heart of gold.
as for safety, SAFEST NAVAJO COMPANY IN CANADA.
as for turn over, the last guy to quit left for jazz and thier pilot now is still there and hes been there for a while.
If you dont like making good money, working 9-5 and being home every night... dont apply
A++++company
any questions??? PM

Re: Mission Air
I would like to explain a few things to HORUNNER. I now run a corporate flight department in eastern Canada and yes I left Mission Air for this. I even gave Michael a full month notice since he had been extremely helpful to me throughout my 2 and a half years spent with them. The reason why they hire more pilots than they have airplanes is that each airplanes were flying over 1500 hrs per year back in 2004 anyways. I have seen a few pilots not getting the flying that they were expecting. I also met some pilots who were not up to the job either. I can tell you that I was flying my 1200 hrs per year and was making more money anybody else could have paid me for the experience that I had. If this qualifies me as a Ho pilot, then I must say that it was enjoyable and I now live my life with no regrets.

Thank you for supporting your former employer, its very admirable. My main question was why they have had turn over enough to have been hiring three times this year.
I would love fly single pilot again be home most nights and weekends with my family and still make a good buck, I just thought I would try and get a good answer as to why the turn over.
Thank you again for your input
