They are saying that their experiance isn't very good, poor working conditions, no benefits, lots of people are getting hurt on the job. They are ok and have opened their own business, they don't speak english well but they are able to understand well enough to get by and hoping things get better. :mrgreen:

Good attempt at translating Lurch, do you know complex Chinese writing or used a friend? Here's my full translation attempt:

My life here is not very good. Working conditions are poor and benefits are minimum. But don't worry, only 10 or so people get seriously injured a day and I'm very careful.

We opened a small store and business is not bad. Despite my poor understanding of English, I can still understand a bit what the White people are saying.

I hope I'll become successful some days and I'll work hard and watch for my health.

How are you guys? I really miss you and hope to see you again.

This sounds like homework for grade 10 or so Social Study class. Kid should get an A+ for this.

My knowledge of Chinese writing is limited to menu's. GF translated it for me, I didn't feel like typing out the whole thing so I just gave a summarised version.

I'm still trying to figure this out. What made you laugh Niss? Is it disrespect for another culture? The Chinese language and culture is possibly the oldest on this planet. I'm confused.

I think the humor is in that the teacher who assigned this was not expecting the student to take "you are a chineese immigrant" to such a literal point that the letter would be written in chineese. Seemed obviouse to me. Disrespect? where did you get that?

Oh come on...it's not that offensive. I'm full blood but white-washed Chinese and I don't find it totally offensive. All tho I wonder where did this "I love you long time" thing came from. As for lunch combo with spring roll...that's because you didn't bring a Chinese friend. Bring one of us along and you get the actual menu. :lol:
