CHC
I'm a fixed wing pilot and I recently heard that CHC operates fixed wing aircrafts around the world. I'm actually captain on the Dash-8 and I have no information at all about CHC.
Did someone here is able to give me information about how many Dash-8 they operates and their location. I would like to know also if pilots are enjoying working for CHC and if they are planning to operate more airplanes in a near future?
Cheers!

Hey Mini-me, Check out the webpage for CHC at http://www.chc.ca and go to their employment section and you will find listings for Fixed-wing positions available within the company. I believe most are for touring positions in Africa. Hope this helps.............rh350.

Thanks rotorhead350. It seems like the airplanes are based in Nigeria. It's just a guess from what I read on their website. I wonder if CHC have good safety measures to protects their employees against kidnappings. Oil workers are popular for kidnappers in the country. I don’t know if the pilots are at risk or not.
Anyway, if anyone here have more info about CHC, please let me know.
Bonne journée!

It's a forum used by expats ("oyibos") based in Nigeria - mostly Port Harcourt and Lagos. Though most are oil workers, there are at least 2 helicopter pilots (don't know for whom they work though) that frequent the board, so a post should yield some information. I recommend doing a search before posting, and be clear about the info you require, some of the folks on that board are pretty ruthless to newbies...
In general, it depends where you are based in Nigeria as to the extent of the security risk. I recently returned from a rotation there (fixed wing Cdn company) and we were based fairly far north of the Delta area (where all the kidnappings have happened so far) and we had no problems although we took precautions. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is an election coming up this spring which will cause things to become quite turbulent (violence, rioting, etc), so no hurry on your application!!
And you could try Pprune.com as well, in the Africa section.
Good luck!
edited to add: I just remembered that CHC owns 40% of the Nigerian airline Aero Contractors, who operate Yugoslavia Registered (!) 737s and Dash 8's... no idea if CHC has separate Dash 8's - the pilots that work for Aero seem to be Eastern European. http://www.acn.aero/cgi-bin/airkiosk/I7 ... =2&LANG=EN (click on "about us" and scroll down to the company history section for the CHC part.)

Re: CHC
Our shop has a Twin otter in it with the CHC markings and little red hummingbird on the tail. Not sure if it's there for maintenance or we purchased it.
Does anyone have info on CHC's Twin Otter program ??

Do you know if CHC owns these Otters or do they lease them from another operator?

I'm not 100% but I'd say that's a fairly educated guess.....more then likely correct.longjon wrote:Im guessing the Twin Otters came with the Schreiner group.
