What is required for someone to get an ACA on a light aircraft (Lets say SE piston Cessna). I assume you need a type rating and a long course for big stuff, but what about small? Are ACA's transferrable between AMO's?

Re: ACA
All you need for a light aircraft ACA is an AME M1 license; and a piece of paper saying you are authorized to sign out the aircraft signed by the DOM and placed in the incorporated-by-reference documents in the MPM of the AMO.
The AME logbook requirements should take care of most of the technical side of training. Plus there is the required initial and recurrent training when you are employed by an AMO, but most of this is legal hogwash.
ACAs are not transferrable between AMOs, because they are the individual AMO's authorizations. Type courses (endorsements) are transferable though...
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: ACA
Bede - You probably knew this but;
If the aircraft is not being operated commercially, an AMO, and hence ACA, is not required at all. Just an M1 Lic.

I believe Bede's Flying Club is one of those 'Flight School' flying clubs which needs an AMO...
