Who said anything about wanting to work twice as hard? I read your post, I read my post, neither of us said anything about 'wanting' to work. You did say that socialism creates lazy people because of over-taxation, and I said you were wrong, pointed out why you were wrong and have yet to hear an argument that will satisfy me that you are not wrong. I think the American Dream is not what people thought it was...and they're starting to disbelieve that old school propaganda. The US could stand to have some more 'socialist' ideas integrated or more 'regulation' - Canada does and we faired better through this recession as a result.

I agree with him for once, except where he blames capitalism. This has been done purely 100% by pilots to pilots. Low time guys feel they just gotta fly so they do it for free.

Wow. It should also include how pilots bend over and allow to be paid those wages. Shouldn't be entirely the companys' fault. As they say, you got to paddle your own boat. Not trying to stir the pot but these guys shouldn't be complaning, rather do something about it. Still a great video, not going to do anything to the public as long as they get their 39$ fares.

For those of you blaming the pilots, what is a pilot to do when they need to start off their careers, and 90% of the jobs pay $15,000 to $25,000 to start? Let's be fair, the problem is far more complex than that, and a solution is not as easy as some of you allude to.

Simply Answer that I have stated before on here:

You need to restrict the number of pilots coming into the system, other professions that pilots like to hold themselves in the same light and compare themselves to all restrict who can enter the field.

Doctors have the MCAT, Lawyers the LSAT, to become a doctor it takes 8 years and about the same for a lawyer. Usually one has to have an undergraduate degree then write the entrance exams. To become a Pilot one just needs a heart beat and rudimentary motor skills, oh and a bank loan. All the choke points in aviation that weed out the non hackers are throughout the careers, low wages , harsh working conditions, and the list goes on. Other Professions are weighted on the front end before you even get to start.

What needs to happen and the "aviation colleges" will strongly oppose this of course, the industry needs its own version of the MCAT or LSAT. Transport should have two exams sittings a year one in the summer for students starting the college type programs in the fall and one in the spring just before the weather gets good for training in the summer which would cater to the local flying clubs. Make the Exam free with 300 questions a 90% pass mark which then allows you to begin CPL training. If you Fail then well to bad you can try again in Six months.

This would not limit you from starting a PPL or a additional training on that for people who just want to get a 100 dollar hamburger or go to chilliwack for pie.

further to that follow the lead of the US and make 704 and 705 the exclusive domain of the ATPL holders.

There are little things we can all do:

- Never say you're going flying - say you're going to work.
- If asked if you like your job, tell them you love flying, but you hate the industry and it's proven to be a bad investment in the long run.
- Don't suggest others pursue flying, even an enthusiastic young low-timer.
- Stop airline unions from offering flying scholarships.
- Ask your MP to put a stop to publicly funded flight schools - we shouldn't be funding the unemployment line.

But, for those of us already too invested in this career, go to work and enjoy your day. Try to leave this crap out of the flight deck!
