That's pretty awesome, though a quick question for the 47 guys out there, how did they get the nose gear out without the mains?

I would say he pulled the alternate NLG handle judging by the bouncing coming down....that is a complete guess though.

Quote from the videographer in the comments section under the video.
Balleka (3 days ago) Using the alternate system. Controls each individual gear leg.

He's posted a lot of great videos from the flightdeck of the 747, mounted very well so it isn't bouncing around everywhere like other videos.
Re: Helmet cam - strapped to B747 nose gear . video . . .
At the beginning of that little video it says "A380"~~
I don't know anything about that airplane but maybe the NLG can be extended, or left extended on it's own. In 13 years of flying the 'Classic' 47, I know the gear selector has a detent labeled 'wing gear' with a 'note' in the FCOM saying "do not use".
Regardless, good video.

You'll notice at that point the video slows down, and in the background there is an Air France A380 parked at the gate.Jorge36 wrote:At the beginning of that little video it says "A380"~~

Thanks Donald!
I didn't see that until you've mentioned it so guess it is the -47.

The B747 Nose wheel can be lowered independently from the main gear.

Re: Helmet cam - strapped to B747 nose gear . video . . .
Is it just me or do the mains, (specifically the center ones) steer? When watching the video durring taxi, when the airplane makes a sharp turn it seems the mains steer as well. I know that the mains do steer forward when landing in a xwind but did not know that they would do it while on the ground as well.
