Headed to Cuba Thursday night. I was to return VERY late a week later, blowing into YWG at 0530 Friday morning. Well, blow me down, my travel agent called and said I'd have to stay in Cuba (on the beach, at the hotel, drink in hand, no extra cost to me) till Saturday night, as Sun Wing had canceled my return flight. Boo Hoo! Poor me!

How is the Cigar stock? If you like I'd be more than willing to rip down in the Navajo to fetch you. Hopefully I'd have to go mechanical or something while I'm down there. May get a few extra days down there while we wait for an engineer to come down to desnag the airplane.

I think we may need to do some clever routing on the way back. Maybe a few stops in Jamaica and the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

Skyservice did that to me a few years ago, and the bastards even gave me a $150 travel voucher for the inconvenience of another day on a beach.

My family had it with an AC flight from Frankfurt to Toronto due to overbooking...two stayed behind for a free night in frankfurt and a 400 Euro check each and were on a flight the next day.

I'm not in Cuba. I leave Thursday. And, I won't be posting. I'll be drinking boat drinks, scuba diving and eating crappy food, smoking really good cigars!

Ok, it looks like Doc has really gone on his vacation to Cuba, as he hasn't been on here since yesterday morning. I propose we have some fun in his absence and make up some tall tales about him. Nothing malicious, just something for him to read when he gets back. Maybe he will give away a nice souvenir from his travels to the person who comes up with the most entertaining story/fact/lie. Or he will tell us all to "jog off", in his Doc-like fashion. So, who'd like to go first?

I have it from a good source that Doc tried to get accepted on the board of the new college and they turned him down.

I heard a report that on his flight the copilot was incapacitated. Doc was approved to take over and continue to Cuba because Sun Wing management heard he had lots of "round engine experience".

Good try, yycflyguy, but the thread is supposed to be about Doc, not yourself.

Doc once single-handedly fueled, oiled, un-loaded and put the wing covers on a DC-3 in 12 minutes flat... it would have been 10 minutes but he stopped to design, patent and build a robotic device that would do all that in 8 minutes.

Once, while flying in the States and being given the holey run about by ATC, Doc seemed to find himself stuck in a hold whilst simutaneously tapping his fuel gauge. Instead of telling ATC that he was low on the old go juice, he requested priority due to being "down to one engine". He was immediately given priority and landed without incident shortly there after.

He was flying a Caravan.

In his defense, he had just signed his training bond and didn't want to get into trouble with management.
