Piper Navajo Chieftain data

Post by Panama Jack »

Hello,

Looking for some general data on a typical mid-life Piper Navajo Chieftain (the stretched, piston 'ho). Can somebody remind me please if the maximum is 7 or 9 passenger seats in a Navajo (assuming single pilot operations and with one pax in the copilot seat)?

A typical Empty Operating Weight
Maximum Zero Fuel Weight
Maximum Takeoff Weight for your model
Maximum Landing Weight
Typical Fuel Burn (Gallons per hour) and speed (knots) in cruising flight at Max Takeoff Weight.

Thanks in advance for answering! Kindly indicate if you would be OK with me PM'ing me as I will probably be looking for some additional performance figures.

I can do 7 passengers shoehorned in with a straight ho so I'm thinking 9 for a 350 is probably correct. As for the rest of the numbers I have no idea

^ I've heard that you can actually fit 10 in, as long as one is in a body bag in the wing lockers

Do you have to cut the body in half to put it in both lockers? :smt040

The -310 has one less row of pax seats, right (7 rather than 9)?

straight ho 300/310 hp max incl pilot 8
31-325CR straight ho w/ uprated engines and winglockers, normally about 2-300# heavier
31-350 stretched one row in front of spar, 350 hp engines, HGW, winglockers
panther conversions are all 350 hp engines w/ 4 blade props, winglets optional
two kinds of flaps system duke/calico not sure which is the faster Vfe, and also 2 different gear speeds, due to main gear door hinges

what kind of legs, strips, cruise alt, etc.... if a private machine go with the straight ho, burns less gas, a little faster, and cheaper

And you've got a chance if an engine quits low in a straight Navajo. The Chieftain not so much. Piper killed their own test pilots on a single engine go around test.

Airbus killed their cheif pilot in a single engine go around too. 350 v. 310 gross weight single engine go around should perform around the same; not very well.

When would you have to do a single engine go around?
