Air Transat A330 Question

Here is a question for an A330 skipper. Flew home last week on the A330 and it seemed whenever the brakes were applied there was a metal pipe like, banging sound (quite loud) and it also seemed when they released the brakes the banging sound was present just not as loud. Can't say that I heard this noise going south (as we were sitting relatively in the same spot near the centre of the A/C). Is this normal or abnormal. In all very good trip with TS396 and 397.

Maybe it was a little Mexican stowaway? Perhaps someone making a "run for the border"? In all honesty, I don't know, why sweat it if you made it home safely. I'm sure it was a normal operating sound as there are many noises that come from below that sound different depending on the individual aircraft tail /environmental factors/wear of parts, etc.

You're right, I had the same sound... most noticeable around Seat 28 A area rather than the other side for some reason. It almost sounds like a train applying brakes.

It is the brakes. Normal sound on the airbus.

Yes normal sound especially on "Heavy" airbuses. Nothing to worry about. Just realise that each main landing gear consists of a boguey with 4 wheel. And each wheel has its own brakes. So it's normal that it makes that sound when we release the brakes. Hope it reassures you, cheers, Nio
