I dare say there is going to be some tough calls made, some disapointed pilots there, and I wish people a speedy return to the line.
Goodluck all.

Cheers.

Yes M.C left for Shell, good luck to him. Quick Air is days from shutting down (the whole YXD not allowing traffic from the south), and I have no idea what happened to the old owners, but they were selling XH off in pieces for 2 years now anyway. It is a good outfit, and I hope they rebound from this.

Bar xh flys on a contract basis for quick air as does airco, it is being shut down because the airport authority will not allow traffic from the south after july 30. Bar xh is far from down or out.

LL has been trying to retire for a few years and has sold the company to a group of long time employees. This group has owned the company for at least two years now. Hardly "opting out". Bar XH is just fine.

Is AIRCO still operating out of the muni? Or has the airport authority finally had their way, and shut all airport business down?

Does MC still have his share of the company or did he sell to BP and HJ?

Who's the new CP?

I don't want to go in there just to be nosey. So please tell; there are some nice guys(and girls) working there that I really hope don't lose their job.

Quikair

Post by avro_girl »

Quikair is not shutting down. As of July 31-2005 they will be no longer using Bar xh and Airco. They will be buying an new fleet of Helecopters (Bell 430) and running them between YXD and YYC as scheduled service still out of the muni, but on the other side of the fence! (literally).

Avro's right...

BUT HELICOPTERS??? WTF??? This isn't Vancouver - Victoria - Seattle(e.i. Helijet!!).

The Helo idea won't fly! Well, maybe they'll try it over tha latter part of the summer, but come winter it'll all be over! Remember it's Icing-Alley from YYC to YXD!

Start getting your resumes in to QuikPass. They are now running one of Alta's old J-31's from a private lounge in YYC to YEG. The second J-31 is almost on-line and there's talk of more to come.

Quikair flies hundreds of pax a week, and all those pax will still need to fly when Quikair closes on July, 31!

well quikpass goes out of the international and most if not all of Quikair clientele has non interest in going to yeg....

The owners of Quikair are well aware of the weather issue for the helecopters and have back up plans in place.

There was a survey done a couple months ago and and 97% of the pax that fly on Quikair would rather drive then fly out of yeg!

yes, when they say no traffic from the south that means scheduled traffic ...any scheduled traffice must go in and out of yeg. Anything going north can remain out of yxd aswell as private charters. As long as its not a scheduled service from the south it can still come into yxd

This will affect the Quikair sched out of Calgary. ( Flown by both Bar XH and Airco). It will also affect the Peace Air sched out of Calgary flown by themselves in a A100 and a B100 leased from Dynamic. Lastly it will affect Integra out of Lethbridge who flys CYQL-CYXD a few tims a day.

Greenwich....Alas my firend, it appears that you have been duped again!
Do you honestly think that QuikPass will survive....This is simply another retread of the old Alta FL***s gang. They could not dump the J31 so they are going to try and run it. Everyone beware of the management of this outfit!!!.

'Tail',

To be honest I don't think QPass will survive! But hey, it'll last for one year...maybe two...and that's a good chunk of +12,500 turbine time in the old log-book for their pilots (scheds look good on a CV too!)!!

I believe that they'll get bigger and bigger (especially after Quik shuts down) but when they get too big the whole 'lack of security' in YYC will catch up to them and they'll be forced to fly out of the main terminal...along with CMA, WJ, JAZZ, etc.

'Avro',

I hear what U are saying, and I know everyone WANTS to fly to YXD, but
S-76's at 170True in the winter...I'm sure the Quik Pax that took the survey didn't know too much about the helo game!!

I cant believe that Quikair, and Integra have not tried to push this prohibition on sched flights from the south as a violation of Human Rights or a violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Since the ERAA will allow flights from the north you could spin it as discrimination against the residets of southern AB.

'Commer M',

Good point!

I know there are a lot of Alta-haters on this site, but don't forget that Alta spent 2 years (and a lot of $) in court fighting the ERAA on the pax-cap issue. Alta was pushing the ERAA to raise the cap while the ERAA was pushing everyone by lowering the cap.

The irony is that nobody fought the battle with Alta. Peace, XH, Integra, Corpac, and countless others all stood on the sidelines and watched.

Had a group fought the ERAA things would be very different. Now we all lose!

if the flight originates south of edmonton Eraa says you must go to yeg as of july 30 so the calgary to edmonton sched must go to YEG not yxd
