Air London

Post by Jay25 »

I've searched high and low on the forums and haven't found anything maintenance related in regards to Air London Ltd. in London, ON.
Does or has anybody worked for them before? What are the working hours? Are they reputable? Wages? Anything at all....

Thanks,
Jay25

The must be looking for someone to work on the ground support equipment and tugs, because the ad says "Mechanic" and not AME.

I have a feeling this won't be of any help, but it brought back some memories for me, so I thought I would post anyways. I started my apprenticeship there 12 years ago when Richard and Sharon owned the place and Jeff was the AME there. For me as an apprentice it was really good, Jeff made it a really fun place to work, we had a good time and I learned a lot as well. When I worked there my wage was $8.00 or $8.50 an hour and I'll never forget the day when I asked for a raise, but that's another story. All that being said I know there are new owners there and Jeff has moved on. I talked to the DoM there almost a year ago and he seemed to like it there but he was also leaving, so whatever that means. Why not just stop in or give them a call? If you live in London I would personally hold out for Flight Exec or if you have any interest in structures go work for Chris at XU Aviation, I worked there for a short time before I went to school and it is still one of the only places I didn't want to leave.

Anyways, good luck with whatever you do :)

Ya I thought that was rather weird too....not too sure what it means other than doing a little research on their website. It looks as though the flight school is Aero Academy and the maintenance is done by Air London. Seems like they also do private charters, so that's why they have an M2 jet on their homepage?

Thanks Fox,

I might just take a drive over to Flightexec and Air London and see what they're all about. Unfortunately i'm no good at structures, I leave that stuff to the "S" licensed guys.

So I drove over to the International airport and talked with the DOM at Air London. It seems like they have a good setup there, a few 152's and 172's, Seneca and a 421. Overall, I don't have any exp. on piston pounders but that doesn't mean I'm not willing to learn. Sounds like they're just just looking for a non-licensed AME right now and an apprentice. But in the next few weeks they might have some more business coming their way, so we'll see.....

Anyway, thanks to you all for your input.

Cheers.

What's a "non-licenced AME"?

Sorry, I should've been more thorough...What I meant to say was a non-ACA'd AME for the time being. You can be licenced but not exercise the priveleges of an signing an MR.
