Is anybody in Canada buying a couple of A320's?

Post by Panama Jack »

The Middle Eastern carrier Gulf Air has in recent days (or is doing so at this very moment) ferried a couple of retired A320's (registration A9C-ED and A9C-EJ) to YMX. Anybody know anything about the final destination of these two birds? Bonus points for photos! :D

Hey Jack,

I don't think it is AC. Haven't heard any juicy rumours regarding additional FINs... but then again, pilots are the last to know.

Another possibility, they might have been send there for short term storage.

Like Delta did with a couple of MD-11 back in 2004.

Ah, thanks ywgflyboy but what I was really looking for were photos of either of these planes in YMX.

Incidentally, "EJ" is the first A320 that I flew. I know yycflyguy is about to say something now after my PM. (Bracing for Impact). :x

You coulda posted your PM here Jack.

Corruption in aviation? Nah, I could never imagine it! It only occurs at every level and even amongst so called allies. Maybe a chop shop set up in YMX? If AC were to use those planes they are sent to Rome, NY for paint, not YMX. I haven't heard any bragging of a 320 increase but will get back to you if I hear something.

Well, I pretty much predicted that you were going to say something about how EJ got it's nickname because of my flying it. And I thought I had you all figured out.

Those Delta MD-11's went to FEDEX no?

I guess the possibility of 320's being combi converted or cargo converted is a bit to early huh?

Is it the full 180 or 164 or the 2 class Engines cfm56 or V2500? Enhanced cabin? That might determine where their going

Is says they were ferried from Jordan-Oslo-Mirabel on May 9th after being in storage since 2/2010. via Skyliner News
Any chance Cargojet might have them?
Kelowna Flightcraft
To big for Air Georgian
Could be a replacement for 727's?
That's about it for Canadian's at Mirabel. Hard to say as nobody there has Airbus's in their fleet except AC

I must be getting old missing out on that one  I just assumed it meant El Jefe if you had flown it.
