strike 99%

Post by jetpilot »

Hi Alpa members

you guys just prove what a group of pilot can do, we all proud of you guys! ( must be a record!)

Jazz Air pilots overwhelmingly authorize union to call strike: 99% percent voted in favour of a lawful strike, and more than 90 percent participated in the balloting. “This vote serves as notice to Jazz Air LP that we are united and are committed to achieving a fair and equitable contract now,” said Capt. Brian Shury, chairman of the Jazz Master Executive Council (MEC).

I just hope at Air Transat we learn from you guys on 15 June it's us who will vote.....

Strikes make for a terrible experience for everyone involved, but good luck and congratulations on sticking together. No doubt every pilot working in this industry will be watching very closely.

A sincere thanks to everyone for your support here.

1,500 pilots are standing strong for better wages and working conditions, and on June 12th at midnight we'll simultaneously shut over 800 Jazz flights per day down if management doesn't get that point.

And for our ALPA colleagues at Air Transat, we'll be right there next to you on your picket lines supporting you in your fight for all pilots in this industry.

More money.....? Aren't they already some of the highest dash 8 pilots in the world? I worked at Jazz and know the pay scale and other than the first years starting salary it all seems quite fair to me.

This is awesome .. another single poster that so happens to have joined AvCanada today .. just to tell Jazz pilots how well compensated they are. I smell a corporate rat!

Yes, they do go quite high.

I'm sorry cleatus, your opinion means nothing to me until you get many posts under your belt.

Interesting how you chose this thread to register and make your first post.

If the pay was so reasonable then why did you quit?

Hi there Management! We can see right through you! This pilot group is not stupid and we're expecting these comments from you. Nice try but 1,500 pilots have all been briefed on your propaganda mill starting to fire up. Might as well just save your time and effort and instead get back to the bargaining table and treat us with Respect.

Does this mean that you (mgmt) are going to capitulate when it comes to the argument that yes f/o salaries are disgustingly low....care to comment?

Just so you guys and gals don't think I am mgmt I'm a Be 200 driver here in yyc....don't post much but I am very keen to see how your negots go and hoping for an excellent result for Jazz pilots. Stay strong...we 703 guys are depending on you guys to set a great example...I'm right behind you! :smt023

Well what can I say, you guys/gals sure are sharp as you have blown my cover........................
I logged on this morning and figured I would make one quick post, and I have to thank you for making my day with some of the very comical replys. I was beside myself laughing at some of the comments and maturity levels associated with them, thankfully there are much more compitent and educated individuals whom are leading the charge in your struggle for improved working conditions.
Have fun!

Not off topic at all.

June 13th is technically the first day of strike, should the MEC call for it. If the MEC calls the strike, it will start in Newfoundland at 12:01 local June 13th, and move across the country westbound as the time zones change and the clock strikes the 13th at 12:01 am. So it will shut down at local times, not all at once.

Should the MEC call the strike sometime after Vancouver has struck 12:01am June 13th, then the whole country will then be simultaneously shut down at the same time.

Our National Strike Center is already up and running and staffed in Toronto, which is being ran by the Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee (SPSC), so as soon as they hear the word from the MEC, they then will takeover the shutdown and put the plan into effect. The SPSC has software that knows the exact location of every pilot in the country wherever they are on overnights in North America, and the National Strike Center which will be running 24/7 will put out an mass email and call every single operating pilot and inform them to stop work, and tell them the game plan on how to get home.

ALPA will then get every pilot back to their home doorstep, not just their base, either via jumpseat agreements, train, or bus.
