These are pretty minimal requirements to be captain of a jet. Does this mean that nobody wants to work there?Minimum Experience Required: 3000 Total Flight Hours, Canadian ATPL

Odd....I did not think they had an OC!
Was the OC not suspended?

Actually, with the right 3000 hours, the right pilot, the right aircraft and the right training program, these requirements are plenty, certainly not minimal. As a minimum requirement I don't see any problem with that number.ditar wrote:These are pretty minimal requirements to be captain of a jet. @ ahramin
I strongly agree. 3000 hrs in this type of op is plenty of time. I've flown with a few fantastic jet captains with less time than this. Training, the individual, and the type of experience are key.

I guess my point was that they were not specific on what sort of 3000 hours they wanted. They might get a lot of instructors applying.stef wrote:@ ahramin

3000 hours seems to be enough to move a guy to the left seat of an RJ down south, so I don't see why it's not enough for a biz jet

Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
thats only because the guy moving over has 2700hrs on type...3000 hours seems to be enough to move a guy to the left seat of an RJ down south, so I don't see why it's not enough for a biz jet

Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
Have you guys seen the aeropersonnel a320 captain job posting? That's a 3000 hour minimum...granted they want previous PIC experience on the 320 but that suggests that there are people out there with less than 3000 hrs and in command of the 320, which would in turn suggest that 3000 hours to be in command of a biz jet with the right previous experience is more than acceptable.
Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
I think this could be a good deal for the right person. Good luck to all those applying!
Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
This company wants people to work for them for nothing.I know 2 other pilots that got calls from them and when they were asked how much they were expecting in wages and if they said over 60k that was the end off the call and never heard back. And we are all experienced jet pilots. So go luck air partner we will be reading more about you..

Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
Good businessmen runningn jet charter operations want quality pilots and are willing to pay a competative wage for them, because they understand in the long run it is the lowest cost way to operate. The reduced maintainance, fuel saved by efficent flying, reduction in training and admisitative costs, and customer happiness will in the long run significantly out strip the extra salary money.
Less good buinessmen only see the up front salary cost without appreciating the greater long term costs they are incurring by cheaping out on pilot compensation.
There has never been a company that pays significantly below average wages that has been successfull in the long term. They either realise the futility of what they are doing and raise the wages to competitive levels .... or fail.

These guys have run ads for a 560 captain at least 3 times in the last 12 months I think, yet people are still applying and joining ...amazes me.
Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
Well no one can afford to go work for them.I don't know anyone that will fly a jet for less then 60k.But thats what this company wants.More ads to follow I'm sure..LegoMan wrote:These guys have run ads for a 560 captain at least 3 times in the last 12 months I think, yet people are still applying and joining ...amazes me.

The only time this company is going to wake up is when they have the big one.And its to bad. They must have a Chief Pilot with no balls.

3000 hrs for the 560XL is not realistic. I happen to have been lucky enough to have gone from a turboprop to skipper on the 560XL with 3000 hrs and got signed off with 100 hrs on type. It's a straight wing jet, and fairly forgiving as far as medium size jets go.
And although I no longer fly the XL for my current employer, I have flown for AirPartners on contract. I can't speak to how the treat their full time employees, but I had nothing but the best experience flying contract for them. The ops manager was standup and senior management was always very accomodating. My $0.02.

I have heard both good and bad things from current and former employees of Air Partners. Unfortunately I have been told far more bad than good.eye_in_the_sky wrote:3000 hrs for the 560XL is not realistic. I must ask the question that if Air Partners was such a good company to work for, why did you leave their employ after such a short time? I say short time as they have not had the 560XL's for any great length of time. Not pointing fingers, just curious.
Point of fact...I remember the days when my 3000 hrs wouldn't get me into the left seat of a King Air. Now I am finding, in some rare instances, that my 13,000 hrs is too much to be compensated adequately. Makes me want to stick around and see what happens next so I just keep smilin and flyin and certainly not for free!

Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
highflyer188.... i never was employed permanently for AirPartners. I was XL captain for a different based YYC company. I no longer contract for Airpartners as my PPC has expired and the current company I fly for makes it hard financially to justify paying for my recurrency, as we are extremely well compensated for the days we work . Too many company's on here get a bad rap from a bad experience with one or two employees. I was just saying, that mine, although it was short term, was a pleasureable one and it benefited both me and AirPartners.
Re: Air Partners C560 Captain ad
Some time ago now (9 months): Had two generally positive interviews with the CP, HR, and the Business Director, followed by a request for references. Everything looked good. Then, there was no contact with my references. And, despite two positive follow- ups on my part, no further contact from them of any kind.
Somewhat confusing and disappointing - not so much because I didn't get the job, I can live with that (truth is, it has worked out well overall). But no follow up? No "Thanks but no thanks"? They seemed like a decent outfit, and this is kind of a shabby way to treat people.
Anyway, something to keep in mind if you're interested.
