If both mom and baby require Advanced Care or higher, then four medics are needed. I'd like to see an incubator, four medics, two pilots, and a stretcher bound patient on fit ANY PC-12 or King Air. If mom is stable, she can sit in the seat provided.
Hey honey we know you just popped out a little one an hour ago, but have a seat, here's a pop, would you like to watch the in flight movie? Are you comfortable watching your struggling child breathe? (I know, a little melodramatic)

There are medevac companies flying more than 12's and 200's. I know one which flies metros.
If Bravo can carry 1 patient and an incubator, why can't Ornge?

My point is that Ornge is now the primary medevac carrier. You would think that they would have the necessary a/c to handle all the "normal" types of emergencies. But it's government.

Remember the new MNR airplane, the Maule on amphibs??

Back to original comment, there will be other carriers who can make money providing specialty services. :)

Lost Lake,
The point is, if both patients require a higher level of care than just primary then they will both require medical attention by two Paramedics. Sure, a Metro might be big enough to carry them all but you still need to staff the aircraft with 4 Paramedics.
In a hospital setting, if both baby and mother are in distress and require specialized care the baby goes to the NICU and the mom to the ICU or to whatever area she needs to go. They do not stay together. The same would be true for a transport. In order to provide that specialized care I would imagine Ornge would send two aircraft if necessary.
If it was you or a member of your family would you not want the best most specialized advanced care? Or would you rather mom and baby squished into an aircraft that might be big enough to carry them both but with only half the complement of medical staff?
Should Ornge upgrade to 737’s and a team of doctors so that they can on rare occasions carry a sick baby and sick mom in the same aircraft?

Were did I say that mom AND the newborn needed advanced care. My point is as stated. The PC12 according to what I've heard, can't carry a patient and an incubator, so other companies who can will make money. WTF, 737's and a mash team? Read my statements!!

The patient would be in the incubator, if the mother is also a patient she would be on her own aircraft with her own set of Paramedics. If mom is not a patient and is ambulatory then she would be an escort and sit in one of the seats on the aircraft that is transporting her child.
