Norseman = "Thunderchicken"; it can't fly very well but sure makes a lot of noise

Ok so its not a plane but it fits with the theme of the thread.

"Take us to Misrabel" said one of my instructors many years ago .. of course referring to a cross country from Rockliffe airport to Mirabel ;)

I still remember being cleared to land about 40 miles out .. so deserted was the airport.

Oh and why hasn't anybody mentioned the usual deliberate mis pronouncations for "Focker" ;)

I've heard it called a "flaming death tube" too. Pretty funny.

The Supermarine Stranraer - aka the Strainer - had a relief tube at the back instead of a toilet. Before use one opened a valve so the fluid and the frammis would be sucked out into the slipstream, but opening the valve also created a loud whistle, hence the other nickname for the Stranraer, the whistling shithouse. That's from Jim Spillsbury's book on QCA. :D

Dont forget the stranraer also produced a resonance from all the flying wires which itself led to the whistle.

D228 - "fuckin dornier" (really great when CFUCN was flying in). 'Here comes that FUCN dornier"
ATR42 - Hater
Twin Otter - "Oh hey Ted" or, "It's that scottish guy again"
Joyously coined one morning on a trip out east "Going to Sunny D" (place not an aircraft)
A748 Hawker - Oviously the mispronounciation stands but once in a while "Jeezus that thing smells" has been heard spoken out loud when it fires up or taxi's by.

Twin pin is the Scottish Aviation Tin Pioneer.

Don't know about the twin pig. Might be an AC biscuit shooter.
