While I totally agree with you in principle, how in this case are the employees supposed to get anywhere unless they pull the work to rule card? You have a company that doesn't appear to want to negotiate with you fairly, and now the GOV is stepping in to remove any teeth the union has, effectively stripping you of any real action. I don't think playing nice is going to work in this case and as sad as this is - money is what talks, and losing money is what it may take to get a fair and equitable contract(s) for both groups (pilots and FA’s).

As a side note this goes beyond Jazz and has the potential to have far reaching repercussions for our industry as a whole.
Not to mention IMO our government needs a bit of a wake up call; on one hand the MP’s won’t disclose their expense accounts when ordered by the auditor general, on the other Mrs. Raitt wants to rewrite federal law to effectively screw a unionized work force.
Don’t get me started about the taxpayer waste and constitutional breeches in the name of security for the “show and tell” that is the G8/G20. Explain to me why were footing the bill for 1Billion again?

no wonder we have been seeing a string of snags made by pilots that don't even exist. Sure you guys are "keeping us employed" but when we a troubleshooting an aircraft for 8 hrs and find out that nothing was wrong all along...that just sucks! But hey! I am still getting paid so...thank you!

All the articles with the minister's harsh comments about leaving passengers "stranded" has really demolished public support though. Remember Ms. Raitt is the same person that used taxpayer money to launch a $3 million defamation lawsuit against the volunteers of that Community Air non-profit who dared to speak out against her on their website.

Kag, I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of pilots at Jazz are not doing any favours for the Company. What everyone is doing is simply being as professional as they can and conduct flight operations with attention to safety, following all procedures as per the COM and AOM.

It is sickening that the Federal Government has mused about using legislation, trumping fair bargaining. This has been the only card available for Jazz Management to play and it is what it has been counting on all along. From what I have heard, and as has been mentioned is the Minister of Labour has had to rescind her pledge made yesterday in Parliament. Regrettably there does not appear to be any official mention of this in the press at this time.

None of the newswire are reporting because the House is no longer sitting and I guess it is not newsworthy enough. News that the Minister's rescinding of comment was communicated via ALPA channels. I presume ALPA legal must have had something to do with it along with perhaps other unions... who knows. I would hope at somepoint someone at the MEC level expose the meddlesome nature of the Minister's motion and make the case that their actions have no doubt hindered the process for obtaining a fair TA.

Air Canada has an extensive contingency plan to cover the lift provided by Jazz. The pilots of Air Canada have indicated their support for our cause and seem to understand that the ALPA cause is the ACPA cause, apart from global domination...

This may well be another opportunity for professional pilots across the country to take a unified stand to regain the respect of their employers, the government and the travelling public.

Sometimes you just have to pay a little more for better quality.
