It's a program that allows pilots to trade, drop and pickup pairings, or parts of your pairing right down to trading a single leg. It gives you the ability to create the schedule you want after the schedule is out provided what your dropping is picked up.

Hi EC,
Just wondering if you could explain how you came up with 500-600 more a month in your pocket. I ran through my numbers based on my average month and didn't get anywhere near 500-600 bucks before taxes let alone in my pocket every month.

That would be around around a 7000 -9000 dollar a year raise. If I saw that I'd be really upset with the retro pay.

I saw a small hourly raise, a decent per diem raise, abit less of a benefit payment.

Are you including pension?

pdo's sound good though, and if you plan to stay here for 20 some years and believe in company pensions holding out then that is good too.

Cheers,

Anyone under 40 who thinks this pension will still be around when they retire is a bloody fool.
The retro-pay or back-pay or whatever you want to call the pay that the company should have had to put forward for postponing the contract for a year, is missing - why should the company get a 24 million dollar bonus for being douc$he's?

This TA is so far below the bar it isn't even funny.

We were after 60 million total per year in lost total compensation.
They didn't even get a third of that.
The AirOntario TA of 1997 is still better than this one.

Once again ALPA talked a big game......but failed to put the puck in the net.
You can have your gay little buttons back guys.
I can hear the unit holders laughing their heads off already.

This one is a big #ucking NO vote.

Can someone fill me in? Some posters are saying they're getting an extra $600/mo net and some are not happy with the TA. So either someone's math is off or some expected more than $600/mo.

There is a lot of misinformation floating around. I will not post specific details in public view. What I will ask is that all Jazz pilots watch an archived roadshow, download the power point presentation, read the TA. We have 2 weeks to digest this information and make an informed decision.

Obbie, it is rather difficult to score when the opposition has taken the stick out of your hands. Our minority government has pretty much made this a one sided affair.

Aah Obbie we were explicitly not after 60 mil... Brian Shury said in every road show "we are not even trying to get back the 60 million we lost"

26 mil is more than 1/3rd of 60 anyways, but if you did a bit of math the proposals were in the neighbourhood of 30 mil and they got 26.

Probably the best gains that any pilot group in North America could have gotten.

Nothing wrong with shooting for the stars in negotiations and settling on a realistic middle-ground. If you don't ask, it certainly will not be offered!!

To the Yes votes:
What are you happy with?
I'm just confused because the old guys and the young guys are ticked off, so what is it that you middle guys got that you're happy with?

I respect your decision. However, in any of the strike situations you mentioned, were any of those employee groups told they would be legislated back to work BEFORE they gave stike notice? Were any of those groups informed they would receive a capped, arbitrated settlement after they were legislated back to work?

No one chickened out. A legally questionable, outside influence moved our goal posts and severely damaged our negotiating position. Our negotiating team and MEC saw this and acted accordingly, managing to make gains over the capped, arbitrated limit. Will a no vote to this TA fix that. Not a chance. It has been made quite clear what the ramnifications of a no vote/strike situation will be. Many think that we have a chance of gaining more, but at the expense of what?

What I can't wait for is to see when everything is said and done.

If the Vote does come back NO and the MEC and Negots committee quit. How many of you are going to try and get elected to your MEC to take the helm for renegots.

I am going to say NONE OF YOU. You love to bitch and complain, but won't do anything about it when i comes to volunteering.

This is a great contract to turn things around.

For the senior guys, if you thought that you would get your 90's pay back, right out of a bankruptcy contract. Give your head a shake.

To our MEC and Comittee.,
NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS GUYS, I HOPE YOU STAY ON. YOU'VE DONE A TOP NOTCH JOB. WELL DONE, YOU HAVE MY FULL 100% SUPPORT.

Flyinhigh - If the group doesn't like the contract, then it's no good. The MEC represents the pilots.
What are you talking about 100% support? I support them 100% too. Just because I don't like being bent over by the government and the company doesn't make me anti-union. Give your head a shake.

Did you get any inflation guarantees? This world is pretty crazy right now. Not sure I'd want to be in a contract without an inflation trigger. Might find your pay increases not worth much if inflation goes crazy. Pension increases will be nice as long as they're funded probably. Do they have a plan for that too?

Your Right the MEC does represent the group, however I firmly believe that if the MEC thought that they could get more,(yes could have if the Minority Conserv gouv. didn't step in). They feel, worked there arse's off for us, brought it to us cause that is what they got. So I will vote to support them.

First off, as 4th year Jazz F/O, I would like to begin by stating I did in fact vote YES. The fact remains that our MEC has done a tremendous job in most areas of the contract irrespective of the government intervention. The pension alone should be applauded and it has given me a huge sense of relief. I understand that one might argue that the pension won't even be around when it comes time for me to retire however, I would sooner have the prospect of a great pension in my back pocket as opposed to none at all. Per diems have seen vast improvements as have the adjustments to our benefit payments of which both will result in more money in my pocket at the end of the month.
As mentioned above, we have seen vast improvements in 'most' areas. The wages of course would probably be the area of discontent. These new wages or lack there of however, in my opinion, were not accepted by our MEC out of a sense of accomplishment but more out of a sense of need. I simply do not believe that more could have been achieved in this area as a direct result of the government intervention (Bonnie Raitt). As an F/O I view our new pay rates as certainly a step in the right direction however they still lack in value. WRT the Captains wages, it is unfortunate that more could not have been achieved.
In an effort to get to the point, I would hazard to guess that most F/O's will vote yes on this contract however, I am uncertain as to how the Captains will vote as from my perspective I seem to be witnessing a 50/50 split. In no way shape or form am I trying to tell someone how to vote however, it is my opinion that we must be careful what we wish for. I can understand an individual voting no as a matter of principal however, we must be cautious of the fact that too many 'out of principal' no votes may garner a no vote to this contract which gets to my desired ending statement that it is of my opinion that if we vote no on this contract I do not believe that more can be obtained. I believe that the writing is on the wall as far as an alternative ending. If we vote no I believe that the government will simply legislate us back to work and in the end we would only lose ground on our current TA as opposed to gain. I only ask that the entire situation be taken into acct. Thanks.

With respect to the benefits, I was under the impression that it would still be 50/50, but that company with pitch in for half of our 50. Yesterday I was told that company will only contribute their share for STD only. Can anyone confirm this? If so, we haven't made any gains in the benefits aspect.

Hey my friend,

The ALPA TA Blog will have your answer:

http://crewroom.alpa.org

- go to JAZ MEC homepage
- click on the "Tentative Agreement" link (somewhere around the top left corner)
- read the disclaimer and if you accept it, proceed
- there will be the TA, roadshow PowerPoint presentation, and a blog of (so far) around 60 or so Q&As.

Your question was posed, and the answer is there.
