A sad day indeed...
Although I barely knew him, from what I hear he was one hell of a good guy!!!!
My deepest heart felt condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

FOOTSTEPS

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other belonged to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, Thou saidest that once I decided to follow Thee, Thou wouldest walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footrpints. I don't understand why when I needed Thee most, Thou wouldest leave me."

The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Scott was a lifelong friend of mine and he is the most unlikely person to have this happen to. He was indeed a great guy and will surely be missed.

He put up with all of the struggles that most of us did from living in a tool shed for two summers working for an uncaring boss to bigger and better opportunities always keeping his eyes on the horizon. We were just talking recently about career moves and how fun it would be to work together within the next year.

Unfortunately he will just remain a memory to me and those who knew him. I miss you man.

It may help you get things in perspective and to understand that we cope with loss not by forgetting whoever has been taken from us but by finding out how we can best live with our memories of them.

Our deepest sympathies

Scotty Barr has passed on to a better place. He was a great guy, I spent ALOT of time with him during my time time in Male last year as he was my roommate in KaBEElage for almost the entire 6 months. We had some tough times as all roomates do, but by the end he and I got along really well. We'll all be worse off without him around, take care Scott.

I didn't know Scott well, but he's from my home town. What a horrable thing to happen, it really makes you realize how fragile life can be.

My thoughts and simpathys to the Barr family.

Geez, I think that I just dimmed someone's day. I mentioned to a guy that I work with who is from YQD, about this thread, and did he know this poor kid. Yup. Now I feel sad. I have no idea about the details, and I don't now the victim, but really, how senseless. What was so valuable in a Calgary apartment that was worth dying/killing over? What a waste.

My condolences.

Does anyone know if Scott trained at MFC? I think I trained at the same time as him.

Also my sympathies to his family.

I hadn't heard that Veness is dead.

Scott's death hit hard at Nakina Air, although he'd been with Borek for a while. None of us give a shit that he was gay. We just miss our friend. It's really too bad we live in a world where he felt he had to keep his lifestyle a secret, because his murder never would have happened otherwise.

This is quite a sad story

Most pilots and aviation related staff are awesome and are truly understanding of our aviation family members regardless of propeller size or fuel grade used. However, this individual presumed it would somehow harm his relationship to his aviation family if he were to “Come Out”. Being a Gay regional airline pilot myself (not based in one of Canada’s big city’s) I have never had any rude comments directed towards me and no relationship spoiled, yet sometimes things still are said. When loading freight or while discussing your long day some people use derogatory words like Fag and Pansy to name just a few. While as “joking with the boys” as these comments are and by no means meant in a derogatory way, they can be harmful.

We are a big family, all different, but lets try and remember to be cautions about the words we use so that our fellow GLBT aviation family members can feel comfortable to “come out”.

Lets hope a tragedy like this never occurs here in our Canadian aviation family again.

To the pilots and aviation staff in the closet, life is great out here so come and join us.

I'm sorry this person died; however based on what I've read about the case, being a gay had nothing to do with why he was killed. According to the article, his estranged boyfriend was a jealous lunatic.

This coward would have killed his girlfriend, if that was the way he swung, but this wasn't the case.

The guy told Scott he wanted to come over. Scott said no. The guy threatened to out him so Scott had to say okay, or at least thought he did.
