First Air 767 gets northern treatment

Post by Changes in Latitudes »

I was through Ottawa a few days ago and spotted First Air's beautiful 767 all decked-out in its new livery. I didn't get to take a picture, but someone else has captured it. You have to remember the size of a 767 when you see this on the computer because in person, it looks quite spectacular. Good on you 7F, looks like the grand bird is working out well.

They got rid of the stripes a couple years ago. All a/c in their current fleet that went for new paint came out without them and all newly acquired a/c won't have them.

You fool, those aren't pride stripes. Those stripes were intended to emulate the beautiful scheme of an eternally setting sun in the arctic when the seasons change over. The next time you see a sunset up there, gently reach for the hand of your co-pilot and play some light Kenny-G; maybe then you will understand what those stripes represent.

Actually those stripes were "borrowed" from Air Pacific where their Hawer Siddley 748 C-GYMX was bought from. Here's a pic of it passing through Manchester on it's delivery flight in 1980...looks familiar doesn't it?

So look, we've established that we're all going to hold hands during the sunset, its just a matter of which music plays while we do it. I'm happy that we've come this far.
