Re: Doc, CatDriver.......?
. finally got tired of being labelled a racist, a whiner, and a few other things that are UNtrue about him. I just finished reading some threads on PPrune for the 1st time ever. . is over there, offering sound advice and sharing his 50+ yrs of experience with people that are willing to RESPECT his opinion and not jump on him everytime he speaks (types). I guess he just got fed up with threads that disappear for no apparent reason and mods that rarely even return a PM request as to why threads were pulled etc?.
I know the new rules here and respect them.. even if I dont agree with them all.
Doc is pondering the cheapest way he can get his grass cut and at the same time not have to pay the kid down the street 20$ to do it lol.
Sadly, I think we have lost . and several other good posters...from what I read on PPrune today.
Fly safe all.

Re: Doc, CatDriver.......?
True - political correctness is valued far more here, than aviation knowledge, which I suspect reflects a general Canadian attitude.
That's the way it is, and if you don't like it, you are free to leave, like so many other experienced pilots have.

Re: Doc, CatDriver.......?
My 02 cents
It is impossble for moderators to keep everyone happy. IMO the moderators usually strike a reasonable balance between letting folks have their say but shutting down
threads that have degenerated into personal attacks, pointless slanging matches, or just plain ignorant commentary. I too read PPRUNE. The aircrew section is IMO the premier site for information on air transport issues. The depth and breadth of the posters, many with obvious specialist tecknical knowledge, is unrivaled anywhere, but a lot of the other forums are IMO very lame. The Canada forum gets maybe a 2 new posts a day and the pprune Instructor forum has been taken over by a few gas bags that revel in arcane minutia and personal attacks. In terms of presenting infomation likly to be of interests to most readers, I think the avcanada instructor forum is the best site of its kind on the web.
The bottom line
Since the mods started cracking down I have not been characterized as "stupid" , an "imbcile", "moronic", "useless" and a few other less gracious putdowns.......I like that. In the "good old days" I saw too many instances when the same few posters highjacked almost every thread to rail on about their personal pet peeve and any view contrary to theirs resulted in vicious personal attacks, to have any desire to see that style of site return.

Cat still lurks, so if you PM him in a friendly/serious manner, I'm sure he'll respond.
I think he just got tired of people slamming him for common sense advice.
Even though I think common sense isn't that common, HIS common sense served him well, and I paid attention to it when he was here.
My $0.02.

The only thing we're trying to value here is respect. The so-called "PC" is argument just a cop out imho, and aviation knowledge is what the site exists for. If posters can manage to post with respect, then there's no problem, never has been, never will be. Derogatory remarks, name calling, or attacks will be removed, as they will be on any forum. Hiding behind keyboards has grown an interesting social culture that I think is well worth studying...
The posting population sets the tone of the forum, full stop. Not the rules, the Administrator, or the Mods, despite the belief to the contrary. You get out what you put in.

STL: you mis-understand. The above:
Do keep in mind that a concussion will result in a mandatory loss of your pilot medical for 5 years, and I will make sure that the attending physician is informed of his responsibility under the CARs to inform "Dr No" at 4900 Yonge St of the event.
was not a unicast transmission directed at you. Rather, it was a broadcasted transmission. No worries!
After a day on the chainsaw yesterday I fear my "fighting" fitness i but a shadow of its former self anyway...
I didn't know about the concussion issue, thanks for that. I've got a close friend coming up for a weekend of dirt-biking tomorrow, I'll use a bit more caution - maybe! A old CP of mine was hit with a rotor in the head and nearly lost his life, I do recall the 5yr ban on him now, but that was an extreme injury. He argued it strenuously once fit and I think had a year or so taken off after extensive medical testing.

In a feeble attempt to keep the thread drift drifting away from pleasant thoughts of Cat spending all his out of court settlements from TC and enjoying his well earned retirement.

Birddog...hahaha ol' birddog found better fortunes than sitting around here with the mutants on avcanada. He has been dating this girl for 6 months now and all we get are a few facebook updates on him every few weeks. Apparently she is quite the cook, too.
