Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School?
I was reading a while back that there are a number of Aviation Colleges that were community colleges that had made deals with airlines such as Westjet, Air Canada, and Jazz to allow these operators to hire students directly from flight school. This was a number of years back though, before the recession. Does Jazz still do this, or plan to start doing this again in the future?

Jazz is the only one that did that. And I'm pretty sure we just ran a course that had college grads in it.

Jazz also chose to team up with http://caac.ca/ and only hired grads from Colleges that are members of this association.
Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
That still doesn't make it right. And there was someone recently hired from Algonquin College, did not see them on that website.

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
Does anybody know why certain pilots are getting chosen over others to be hired for Jazz. I am going to try do everything possible to get them to pick me. I am working my ass of to hold 90s in high school and I am also going to try get some sort of job if possible at Jazz like sweeping hanger floors or something, just to say that I have been an employee for them. I really would like to be able to do that.

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
There was no Jazz award last year, at least not at Confederation. A buddy of mine was at Selkirk, and there was no award there either.
Your chances are very very very slim of being hired by jazz. If you are chosen as the award recipient (which I'm not sure even exists anymore) you still have to go through the entire interview process.
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
I am not going to. I am just going to try make it so that I get picked if it does happen. But from the look for the next 7 years the whole industry is going to get easier because more pilots will be needed while at the same time many of the baby-boomer pilots will be retiring.
What is the award specifically? Is it given to the students leaving with the highest marks or is it more than that?

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
Jazz sponsors an award for college grads. Someone mentioned the association earlier that most are part of. As for how the students that get chosen are picked, its up to the individual colleges to selected them. selkirk sent two this past spring, I'm pretty sure confed sent some too. There was about twenty of us this year who went to toronto to interview with jazz for this award, and a couple received offers to train out of it, but im not sure if they've started yet or not. just my insight on it, its possible but i wouldnt close all the other doors out there just for this slim chance.

WOW, this quote really shows how much you know about Jazz.
Just some inside info, We got guys all the way from from 1 year to 35 year seniority. Fly a variety of aircraft(even those big ones that qualify you as a pilot), amazing health benefit package, pension, travel benefits, etc.
Now you that is not a career job that I don't know what is. So before you decide to make a statement like that, maybe realize there are plenty of us here that are making it our CAREER.
Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
jobs should go to people who'll appreciate them...and have made sacrafices to earn them....and by sacrafices...giving back daddys G36 and having to buy your own Sunfire doesn't count.

I am pretty sure "Aviator2010" is just a kid in his mom's basement pretending to be pilot....I have been reading his posts and he has been called out on more than occasion for making stuff up and talking complete nonsense. I am starting to think if Google didn't exsist we wouldn't see half these so call "experts" here.
He seems to pipe in on all topics he/she obviously knows nothing about, and with a condescending attitude to boot. I have yet to see anything of substance from Aviator2010 regarding experience, technical knowledge, piloting experience, etc...just pot stirring jabs.
Just search through his posts, you'll see what I mean.

Yes but i would have to disagree with you. I know many pilots with children working at Jazz who do quite well financially. They are not making the $227 /hour like the 777 captains, but they are doing pretty well financially. Plus with the scheduling they can see their kids more, which is one of the reasons why he is flying with Jazz rather than the mainline carrier.aviator2010 wrote:ah troubled shoot you got called aon that one

Flybe graduates first MPL pilots in UK
By LBlachlyCreated 2010-11-15 17:57Flybe graduated its first pilot candidates under the ICAO Multi Crew Pilot License program in a ceremony at the airline's headquarters in Exeter. Flybe said that the completion of the course by the six candidates, "under the supervision of the [UK] Civil Aviation Authority, marks the culmination of a successful relationship between Flybe, Flight Training Europe Jerez and the CAA and is an historic milestone not only for Flybe's pilot training but also for the development of professional pilot training throughout the UK aviation industry."
The newly qualified pilots will now move into the right seats of Flybe's Dash 8 Q400 aircraft as the first MPL holders in the UK, the carrier said.

"Its 227K"
That is still a fictional #. No Jazz line pilot even gets close to that figure.
