Actually, I imagine that this is exactly the kind of technology that will be necessary if anyone ever wanted to make the "flying car" available to the layperson. Such a vehicle would have to be almost completely automated to make it available to the average person without a pilot's license. That thing looks like it's a step in the right direction.
