Post by bizjets101 »

Let's see if there are 8 and hour, but I fly by and only see one, lets see, that would mean I missed 7, but if it where summer maybe there'd be more, like 16, and I see two, but now its fall, and I don't see any - awww nevermind!!!

Sounds to me that MarkhamResident was probably refused a job by the Sifton's and this is his way of getting back at them. Pretty sad indeed.

Just to add fuel to the fire... how many major companies relocated their offices nearby Buttonville in order to access the airport for their private aircraft? If Buttonville ceases to exist, these buildings will eventually become vacant, property/business taxes will suffer because of these companies relocating and the Markham residents will have to pay more taxes in order to cover for the loss of these businesses.

Now, you can add to that a shopping mall, watch the traffic on the 404 come to a standstill even more than it does now near 16th Avenue, along with that a decrease in productivity due to the congestion....

Mind you, there will be a lot of minimum wage jobs available once the mall opens.

Closing Buttonville will just move the aviation jobs, planes somewhere else as well as the business community that relies on the airport. An alternative will have to be found, if possible, and construction of a new airport be started quickly as well if the timeframe of the closing is to be realised. I would suggest nearby MarkhamResident would be a good place to start.

Heh MarkhamRainmanResident, your endless rants, slanderous comments (which I hope end up in litigation, that would be nice!!) and from every aviation site or topic I've ever read, congratulations for posting the most disrespectful post I've ever come across.

Common sense should tell you there is a time and place for things, and Seneca College's statement regarding 3 members of their tight knit community having lost their young lives - and you have to post your insane rant regarding Buttonville.

Shame on you . . .

You gotta ask yourself some common sense questions...

If the owners are so rich why do they need public money?

If the airport has so many proposed movements it should be a cash cow. Instead they need public money to stay afloat. Why? Because the movements are totally inflated and mostly flight circuits flying endless loops.

If the airport was so well managed why isn't it successful?

For the longest time the airport and other supporters (mostly pilots who fly out from there) have touted the economic benefit of it's existence. How it employs 300 people and helps surrounding businesses, with 50 million dollars worth of benefit...blah,blah,blah. All the peon local politicians were singing the same tune. Now magically redevelopment is the way to go. Well no shit. 170 acres of land and only 300 employees and 50 million dollars worth of benefit. Someone needs to learn some business savvy. Town of Markham is getting no tax money from the airport and paying out of the public's pocket to help keep it afloat. Nice move. Great way to spend taxpayers dollars. Redevelopment will bring in hoards of money to the city, the owners and create lots of jobs, a lot more than 300. It's truly amazing how the owners could have sat on a money losing venture for so long. But then again maybe it shouldn't. Anyone who needs to beg the government for money whilst being supposedly rich probably could benefit in some higher form of education, especially in business. Truly successful business people don't rely on government hand outs. Which begs the next question...

Why would someone who is sitting on 170 acres of prime land and is born with a silver spoon in his mouth need the government to build them a new airport? To even ask that of a government who stopped supporting ckyz because it's private and underutilized is downright embarrassing. Some people have no shame I guess.

MarkhamResident,

You are a liar; you are the author of the post that Bizjet linked to. If anybody compares that with your previous posts on AvCanada I think it will be easy to draw the same conclusion.

Anyways, what the hell does the airport have anything to do with the accidents and incidents which have occurred this year? How does Buttonville lack safety? The only common denominator between those events is that they were either arriving or departing CYKZ which would have been inconsequential.

+1

Further, by his promoting Markham Airport, he's probably a part owner looking to be the next Derek Sifton (actually he's just a wannabe)

Also, MarkhamResident's rant after the unfortunate death's of the Seneca College students and instructor is uncalled for and extremely callous. It's a good thing you want to stay away from YKZ, otherwise I'd ship over a number of Seneca students to kick your candy a$$ all over the main apron!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING !!!!!! HA HAA HA too funny
Markham Airport has never been a well run airport or even close to being one.
It is simply a piece of land with an airstrip that has had the very minimal done to keep aircraft there. To call it an airport is really stretching it
There have been many accounts about people being run off by the property manager instead of being encouraged about aviation etc. That has really hurt it's reputation over the years.
The buildings are portables the hangers are decrepid and nothing of note have really ever been done to improve any of it. Most of the time the place looks like an abandoned construction site and airplane junk yard
MarkhamResident you are a joke ... seriously do you know anything about aviation at all ....... :?:

So you think Stronach is going to move Magna because he can't fly in to ckyz?

Wake up...no one will move their business because they can't fly in to buttonville. They'll just find the next nearest airport and travel another half hour or whatever it takes.

Sounds like more of the Buttonville empty threats/propaganda.

Wow..join the board and I'm accused of being someone else on the first post. Tell me, who appears to be the mentally challenged one?

I don't live in Markham and have no idea who this other person is, but I can tell you right away, first impression is he's more educated that whoever you are. Kind of scary if you're a teacher.

It's truly amazing how some of these people just can't comprehend that they are in the minority. Ask anyone in the surrounding area if they like ckyz and unless they are aviators that use it, the answer is almost always "no". Why would anyone want the noise, pollution and the safety risks?
MarkhamResident wrote:Now, Now, Sifton Minions.... such anger and arrogance seething from you... well if you're going to have a tantrum then it is time to go to your room and think about what you're saying. Best do your IP trace on truthteller and you'll see we are not the same person. I know it is hard for you to believe (as I stated before) that many people want to see an end to Buttonville and any public support for your airport or any other airport the Siftons would like to build. Truthteller now knows the mindset that exists at Buttonville, as I'm sure you are a representative sample of the 300 employees, something more to think about when considering the prospects of letting this community move to Pickering.

Concerning the Seneca Crash, it is a tragedy, but one of many that has come out of Buttonville lately. I imagine Buttonville ranks quite high (if not at the top) for fatalities / accidents from an originating airport. So I think you'll have to take a hard look at yourselves, maybe it is this arrogant culture of yours that lends itself to poor inspections, maintenance, etc. I'm sure the findings of the investigation will come out soon, and I'm equally sure that the families involved will not be concerned about your collective feelings, but more directly to what caused the crash and who is to blame - if blame can be assigned. From a community perspective, I'm sure questions are being raised is why are there so many accidents coming from Buttonville, and what guarantees that there won't be more.

Your persistence in the matter angers me. I've been reading this thread long enough without saying anything and keeping my mouth shut. This in addition to your comments on rollerfunk.com leave me no choice but to simply say: F*ck right off.

You can see from the posts from Markhamresident that this guy is a troll and looking to provoke this board. No pilot i know likes an airport closing so thats why i say this guy is a phony or a frustrated Neibourgh that hate aircraft busing over his house.
Anytime you have extensive training at an airport you will see its share of accidents.
I hate to see an airport closing but in this case all has been done and its up to the Siftons what happens next as they own the land.

MarkhamResident wrote: BTW I remember doing my IFR at Buttonville many years ago and seeing a farm house picture posted on the bulletin board across from the TAL flight desk, with notification about a noise complaint, when I asked about it I was told it is to let us know where to do our practice emergency landings.

Then just recently when posting about the landing on the 407 that almost hit the GoBus, several planes from Buttonville did low passes over the houses and blogged about it, so don't tell me this culture doesn't exist - your anger demonstrates it extends to Seneca. Maybe you'll get into a plane now and try to target where I live, that seems to be the Modus Operandi of Buttonville pilots.
When I was getting my PPL at YKZ, there was a culture of responsibility and being courteous to those who live in the vicinity of the airport. No one was encouraged to fly low and over. If anything, if you were even suspected of unsafe practices, your pilotting privileges were suspended. Obviously in your case MarkhamResident, you and others like you were victims of some narrow minded individuals working at the airport at that time. The ONLY time I fly lower than 1000' AGL is upon final approach and takeoff.

Those 'students' that blog of their exploits of 'buzzing' houses are immature and in some cases not properly supervised. This happens in many training centres unfortunately. When you have instructors under the age of 25, still hoping for their first job on big iron, trying to be the next "Top Gun", that's what happens. Does it happen at YKZ? To my knowledge and experience, NO. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.... PERIOD.

I wouldn't waste the AVGAS to fly low over your house. You have a deep seeded hate of the Siftons, and it doesn't matter what anyone will say or even provide evidence to be contrary to your beliefs, you will still be looking through those 'rose coloured' glasses of yours.

I hope that the Siftons do sell the airport and if Cadillac Fairview is allowed to build there, that there be a building or area of numerous buildings be set aside for subsidized housing. Turn it into another Regent Park or Jane/Finch neighbourhood. That would be swift justice for those who wanted the airport shut down. Payback is a b**ch!

Here endith the rant....
