Or is it another Foreign owned " Lets milk the students and run " operation starting up in Ontario???

It's not a start-up, as far as I can tell. Got this from the website:

I couldn't get the link for their Fleet to work, but the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register only has two C150Ms, and a C172M. Not really that much to "boost" about

Umm, definitely not a start up. they have been around for a long time. Although, definitely a small school, they are far from a start-up.

They used to be owned by the same group that owned skylink express in YHM before cargojet bought them (and has now sold them back).

Old school with new owners and looking for new staff?

Don't see much of a market in the Chatham area for flight training.

Does Sontair have an existing international student contract? They have a link for "International Students" on their website but only says something along the lines of "coming soon."

The opposite is more true: canadian owned "lets milk the foreigner students and run", I have seen it.

I used to be out at the chatham airport quite a bit and Sontair has always just been....there...not really doing anything except sell fuel, as far as I know.

My only red flag is that their 172 is FEFZ, which used to belong to and be maintained by [voluntarily omitted] I wouldn't fly that questionable piece of garbage if my life depended on it.

I think you guys are being a little hard on a (very) small, (very) long-established flight school that is merely looking for an instructor or two.

Seeling their services to foreign students is not a crime, nor is flying an old beat-up 172 that once belonged to a different organization.

If I was a flight instructor looking for a job, I would be jumping at this. There could be lots of opportunity at a school like Sontair.

I fully support Sontair. My only second thought is the questionable 172. It came from a company where everything and everyone is second priority to money.

Chatham airport has unfortunately turned into a void of significant aviation because of the brutal crosswinds that are present most of the time.
If only they could pick up the runway and turn it 90 degrees

Turned into a void due to winds ? The 16yr old kids in the gliders seem to fair alright in the crosswind, along with those "squirly" taildraggers. I vote poor excuse . If anything, I would have said it turned into a void when that farmer built a silo directly on centreline at the end of the runway! (Which is gone now of course)

I'm not sure if Chatham ever had "signification aviation" to begin with though. I agree that the runway was poorly placed, but the 90 degree grass strip is pretty nice! Never know, could extend and pave the grass in years to come. There has been a lot of work going into the airport over the past few years, and it recently has been resealed. It's a nice, quiet airport.

I would be leary of this organization, they seem to have gone through changes over the past couple of months and none of them appear to be good. Their Chief Flight Instructor is over 70 years old, well past his prime. Someone even told me they are currently grounded. Makes me wonder what kind of organization they actually are.
