No, my friend had an interview and drove out from BC and I don't have enough hours yet but I was thinking on applying next year as I have dock experience.

i'd say the exact opposite. There are a lot of worse places to end up then the dock or ramp in nakina.

Do a search on these forums. You will find that the vast majority of people agree that Nakina is a great place.

I was through there recently. You really do get the impression of a top notch operation.

So did the guy from BC get the job?

I don't think any company in Canada has planes that are kept up so well by the rampies, pilots and of course mtnc. Nice clean planes. Very tight operation.

Seemed like a super company to me.

You will be on the ramp/dock for a very long time before you move up. There are quicker ways to get better time, but you may have to work harder for it.

I know someone who has been there for a year, and has yet to see the inside of a plane. And he's looking at another summer, and probably winter, before he'll move up. 2 years is too long and not worth it just to get single engine right seat time, in my opinion.

You guys forgot to mention the twin otter, so that is also multi engine right seat turbine time for a new low timer I would say that is a excellent opportunity

Great place to work...You'll up in the air in no time. Apply next February or march for sure. Get ready to work hard though. If you want to get RS you need to show them what you got. You better have a lot of ramp experience. My friend was hired there a few years back because he had 2 years ramp behind him already. I also heard from a friend of a friend that worked as a pilot up there that when they posted a ramp pos, there recieved 300 resumes that day. That might be BS though.

Why wait til next spring, I think they are still looking to fill positions right now. 1 to 1.5 years on ramp on average. Like any entry level or ramp job some love it and some hate it...all depends on the person.

Big deal.

It would be, but a low timer won't get in it. They go to the PC-12.
CYTY wrote:You'll up in the air in no time
No you won't. Unless you consider 1.5 to 2 years 'no time.'

All ramp jobs are hard work. Nakina isn't that hard compared to a dock job in the bush. At least you get days off and decent working hours. Why should you have to have previous ramp experience, and 'a lot' of it at that? All you basically need to be able to do for any ramp or dock job is be able to move object 'x' from point 'a' to point 'b'. Just about anyone can do the job. I have a couple friends that have worked for Nakina. They're not sure why everyone thinks it's such a great job. After listening to them, neither am I.

Ya your right 2 years is too long to spend on the ramp. Hold out for something better, after all you are a COMERCIAL PILOT and you deserve a flying job. Meanwhile you can work at Mc Donald’s because that is way more constructive and at least you can keep your dignity.

If someone wants to spend 2 years on the ramp just to get some right seat time in a single pilot airplane that's fine, fill your boots. But if you're going to do that, why wouldn't you go work for a place like Wasaya or NAC instead where there's more opportunity for advancement? Me, I'd prefer spending a summer on a dock somewhere and then get some PIC time and actually be flying the airplane the next season.

I'm just passing along what I hear from those that actually work there. Take it or leave it, I don't care.

Guys are checked out on right seat of PC 12 and right seat on Twin Otter when they start to fly.

Like I said before city boys who love their mommies need not even apply.

Maybe that is who your friends are "just clearing"

How's everyone else doing? Got something solid yet? Are there operators still looking to fill spots? All the leads I've been working on have started falling through this week for various reasons. I've still got a few left but I'm starting to get worried now.

Hey just clearing,

If you're still looking I could use a personal assistant this season. I'll let ya sit shotgun on the weedwacker log some real quality time. The only condition is you can't open your mouth when you don't know what your talking about.

That's OK, first of all I can't grab my toes and second, I'm too old for you, you seem like you'd prefer the younger boys fresh outta college. I must say though, I'm flattered I've never been propositioned over the internet before and especially not in such a creative manner. Sitting on your weedwacker......that's original, never heard that one before.

Me too, the only thing I hate more is "pu$$y's" that try to slag people on the internet that they don't know anything about.

go work for wasaya or NAC? aren't you the same guy that just shat on nakina for right seat single engine turbine time? Give you head a shake. I don't think wasaya or NAC have a STC for a second engine on their PC-12s.

The ramp at wasaya is much longer under conditions that would make nelson mandela puke.

Easy. Just Clearing the Trees. You've left enough personal information in past posts that you’re coming pretty close to outing yourself.
I'm not threatening you. I'm simply saying. I would use these forums either only for slagging or only seriously. I've seen some unfortunate folks get outed and hence be blackballed in large regions of Northwestern Ontario because of things said about operations or operators.
Speaking badly of a well respected Northern Operation in one breath then sending resumes into the same region is a recipe for disaster.
Me. I could care less I’m a simple Beaver pilot from Armstrong. Just trying to lookout, for a Relative Newbie.
Have a good summer.
