Hey.
Im looking for some information on what the IATRA is like. How do you study for it? whats on it? what is the pass mark, No one has really told me.
Currently I am studying for my IFR flight test/ written, but I also what to write the IATRA, so I have a better chance getting a job.

Re: IATRA
This is a pretty popular question that comes up quite frequently on the boards. Here are some old threads to run though that are full of questions.

Read the CAP GEN. At least 5 questions from there.
1. You are on a IFR flight plan in Visual conditions, then u have a com failure, what do you do /where do you go
2. cold temp corrections ... what altitudes do you adjust? Proceedure turn etc. when don't you adjust?
3. Mountain region, Extreme cold temp. how much do compensate.
4. other com failure proceedures class B, C airspace.
5. check list interuption ... keep check list in your hand

Re: IATRA
Do you have to have 250 hours to write it, or can I write in beforehand and it will "activate" when I hit the requirement?
Re: IATRA
You require 50% of the minimum flight time to write the IATRA exam. You need 250 hours to get a two-crew type rating on a fixed wing aircraft (166 for helicopter), so I believe that means you would need to have 125 hours to write the exam (83 for helicopter).
There is no "activation" of the IATRA. It is not a licence, permit or rating, and it does not give you any privileges. The exam is part of the knowledge requirements to obtain a two crew type rating. When applying for a two-crew type rating, you will need to provide proof that you obtained at least 70% on the IATRA exam within the previous two years.
Read subsection (3) of CARs 421.40 http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r ... htm#421_40
