Do you mean took suggest that in canada we could repaint the numbers on a runway without closing it? Now that would be silly.

must be a slow news day to dig that up.

I think the reporter would be surprised that every airport in the world has to do that at one time or another.

If I rememebr correctly the north pole will move 50 KM this year.

Check out "when north goes south" on the nature of things. Not only is it moving, it will flip down the road.

"Kathleen Bergen, another spokeswoman for the FAA, explained that runway designations and charting rely upon geomagnetic information. "Aviation is charted using latitude and longitude and the magnetic poles," she told FoxNews.com.

Kind of a silly statement considering lat/long have absolutely nothing to do with the magnetic north pole.

I think this happened at CYEG a few years ago. CYXD had to redesignate RWY 11/29 to 12/30 biut the day this took effect, the runway was opened after resurfacing but @ CYEG, they could not get the numbers changed from RWY 29 to 30 but the CAP was changed so there was mention on the ATIS and tower gave a voice advisory to the effect. No problem. Next day the numbers were changed.

The location of the North Magnetic Pole has been constantly moving for ever. Most BC runway's numbers changed in the 70's.

This would have never happened if there was a Republican President.

Between the whacky politics, all the ganja, nutty cults and religions, polygamy, disco, sideburns, bellbottom pants, UFO's and Vietnam War draft dodgers in the 70's, I'm really surprised anyone in BC even noticed

I wish the North Pole would just go ahead and move to the Caribbean. Then working up North would be a much more pleasant and warm experience.
